GirlPower Workshop - April 27th @ Pennekamp

GirlPower is a friendship program that inspires "Tween" girls (6 to 12 years old) to feel empowered, develop a strong sense of self, and love themselves while learning to manage the most important things to them...their friendships.
Join Dana Kerford, Teacher & Friendship Expert and the Founder of the internationally recognized programs GirlPower & GoodGuys, during her return to Manhattan Beach! Learn how to guide your daughter though the unpredictable world of female friendships. You will learn strategies to help her put out Friendship FiresŪ, how to empower her to stand up for herself, & the best ways to support her through unhealthy friendships. GirlPower will give you a new "language" for talking about friendship, helping you connect with your daughter and open up those lines of communication.

High Altitude Weather Balloon Launch!
Early Saturday morning our Science Specialist, Mrs. Michael, and lots of Mustangs and guests met at the Carson Air Field--home of the Goodyear Blimp. After months of preparing (and years of dreaming), Mrs. Michael guided our ground crew through the final preparation of our first-ever Meadows High Altitude Weather Balloon Launch. When the balloon took flight, it was spectacular. Thank you Manhattan Beach Education Foundation (MBEF) for developing the Innovation Grant Program that allows for educators' dreams to come to fruition. Congratulations Mrs. Michael, Meadows parents, and enthusiastic students...you did it!
Thanks to Xplore Offshore, the weather balloon and the payload were located Monday afternoon off the coast near La Jolla! If you have not already done so, check out this great video of the launch courtesy of the Cardemas Family.
