70 + reasons to support MBEF
We'll stick to the numbers: 73% of our donations come from parents like you. Your generosity helps pay for the salaries of 71 much-needed teachers and specialists. These instructors make a real difference in your child's education. When more than 75% of any class donates to MBEF teachers receive $200 or more to use in the classroom. And your support makes it all possible.
Wondering about your classroom participation? Check the chart below!

Spread the Word
|
SPREAD THE WORD Do you know a child who lives in Manhattan Beach who will be 5 years old on or before 9/1/16? If so, please let the family know it is important they go to their child's neighborhood elementary school the week of 2/8-2/16 to fill out a pre-enrollment information sheet. This is also the week to pre-enroll children entering grades 1-5 in 2016-17 who will be attending MBUSD schools for the first time. Details at mbusd.org.

Grades of Green - Tip of the Week
|
It is great to recycle the packaging that your food comes in, but even better to reduce it in the first place. Try shopping at a farmers market and bringing your own bags or a cute basket to put your food in. Manhattan Beach has a fantastic farmers market every Tuesday at Metlox Plaza with lots of organic options!

Remember: Show your race bib to any running club volunteer and we will add 25 laps to your running club total. Go, Mustangs!!

CYRM 4th & 5th Grade Challenge Update!
|

Wow!! The response to our CYRM challenge to fourth and fifth grade readers has been incredible - 84 students have signed up for the challenge. Even more impressive, 21 have finished one book, 14 have finished two books, and 10 have completed all three books. Students can check their progress on the CYRM Challenge display in the library.
The wait list for some books is quite long so if you have purchased and finished any of the titles, please consider donating them to the library or loaning them out to fellow students. We want everyone to have the opportunity to complete the reading challenge.
Students who complete all three books will be invited to a voting party in March. Please see Mrs. Primm ( cprimm@mbusd.org) with any questions.
