Grades of Green - Tip of the Week
|
This week's tip is from the South Bay Environmental Services Center! When you park your car, park in such a way that you don't need to back up when you leave, which is an extra maneuver that uses gas.

MBUSD -The Mathematical Mind: Grade Level Sessions Online
|
"This series of workshops is designed for parents to understand what their children will be learning by grade level. Connections will be made between what students are learning in the classroom and how parents can support mathematics learning at home. The December sessions will focus on what parents can do to help at home, and the sessions after the New Year will focus on the purpose of what students are learning in class."
If you missed the Mathematical Mind grade level sessions, you can view them online. To watch online, go to the MBUSD website, select the drop down menu for Parents, and click on the Parent Workshops link.

SAVE HOLIDAY TISSUE PAPER FOR YAA
|

Our January YAA project, Masks of Mexico, is right around the corner. Students will make paper mache masks using colorful tissue paper and other supplies. We ask that you please save tissue paper over the holidays and place them in a collection box that will be outside of the Meadows office when we return to school after winter break. Any tissue paper will work - even if it's ripped, crumbled, patterned or solid.
Thanks and happy holidays!

Attention 4th and 5th Grade Readers!
|

Team Meadows is issuing a challenge to all fourth and fifth grade readers to participate in the California Young Reader Medal (CYRM) Award voting for intermediate novels. This years novels are Wildwood, A Dog called Homeless, and True..Sort of. Students must commit to independently read all three novels by late March. After each book is read, students need to come to the library and fill out a completion form so that Mrs. Primm can monitor your progress. Students who complete the challenge will be invited to the library for a Voting Party to discuss and vote for their favorite. Books are available in the Meadows Library, in the Manhattan Beach Public Library, and at the Book Fair.
Please let Mrs. Primm know that you have accepted the challenge.
