Growing Great Jr. Chefs at Manhattan House
|
Growing Great Lead Nutrition and Garden Docents, Johanna Kraus and Stephanie Flores Molter, are working with Chef Diana of Manhattan House on having the Meadows 5th Grade GG Jr Chefs, or "Ninja Chefs", create a seasonal, school-garden inspired special menu item to be featured for the month of December. At the first two Growing Great "Ninja" Chefs meetings, students shared with Chef Diana and team some favorite foods that they would like to see featured, such as a whole grain pasta, tomato soup, or a school-grown salad. Look for the featured dish on the Manhattan House menu in December! For more info, please see the attached flyer.
Manhattan House is located at 1019 Manhattan Beach Blvd. in Manhattan Beach. Reservations can be made at opentable.com or by calling 310-574-2277. Wear a Meadows shirt and get a tour of Chef Diana's Kitchen!!

Congratulations are in order for all running club participants! We completed our first session of running club with a strong finish. Our runners ran a total of 11,572 laps which translates to 1,653 miles- that's roughly the distance from Manhattan Beach, CA to Kansas City, MO! A shout-out to Ms. Kuklinski's third grade class and Mr. Trpin's fifth grade class for having the most runners this past reporting period. Also a big thank you to all the parents who came out to tally and support our runners. We couldn't do it without you!
Keep running! We will see you on January 26, 2016 for the start of a new season! All races you participate in from now until then will count into the new season, so keep those race bibs!

Attention 4th and 5th Grade Readers!
|

Team Meadows is issuing a challenge to all fourth and fifth grade readers to participate in the California Young Reader Medal (CYRM) Award voting for intermediate novels. This years novels are Wildwood, A Dog called Homeless, and True..Sort of. Students must commit to independently read all three novels by late March. After each book is read, students need to come to the library and fill out a completion form so that Mrs. Primm can monitor your progress. Students who complete the challenge will be invited to the library for a Voting Party to discuss and vote for their favorite. Books are available in the Meadows Library, in the Manhattan Beach Public Library, and at the Book Fair.
Please let Mrs. Primm know that you have accepted the challenge.
