Membership Update and Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who became a Super Stang last week! We ended the week with 145 Super Stang families (wow, Meadows, 15 additional families on Friday alone!!!). Congratulations to Shelly and Glenn Johnson, our lucky winners of the Apple Watch we raffled off on Friday night!!

We are still processing lots of PTA membership forms and fulfilling those awesome membership swag bags with Super Stang magnets, trucker hats and water bottles. It's not too late to join PTA or become a Super Stang family!

Thank you for all your support so far. Our membership drive is our biggest fundraiser and sets the stage for how much our PTA can support our school for the coming year. We'll send out the most updated Super Stang list in this week's Friday reminders, but please contact Katie Driscoll & Becky McCalla at meadowsmembership@gmail.com if you have any questions!
Movie Night Thank Yous
What a fun Movie Night!  It was a great way to kick off the new school year!  A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered last night (it couldn't have happened without all our volunteers!) with a special big shout out to Nancy Hesterberg, Christy Kubitz, Debbie Tran and David Swartzlander who were in charge of the evening.
Let's also give a cheer to Sally Peel and Ms Primm for the used book drive/sale - we sold 150 books! We will be donating the proceeds to help illiteracy.

Thank you to to El Gringo and Fresh Brothers for providing food, Java Man for the delicious hot drinks, and to all the bakers who contributed to the awesome bake sale - it was a sell out!

Thank you to Becky McCalla and Katie Driscoll for handling PTA Membership and promoting being a Super Stang.  Be sure to ask Shelly Johnson what time it is when you see her on campus as she was the winner of the Apple Watch!

Wow, last Friday was a jam packed with the MBEF/PTA Rally, the Meadows All School Spirit Rally and then Movie Night.  Go TEAM MEADOWS!

Shopping for Students

Shopping for Students is a program that awards our school with free money. If your family did any shopping at the mall from May 1, 2015 to present, your receipts turn into points that in turn get money for Meadows. You may turn in your receipts into the box in the front office, use the e-receipts for receipts you receive via email or bring them to the concierge which is located in the front of Macy's Men store. Please see flyer for details or go to the Shopping for Students website for more information.
Science Lab Needs You!
Hey Mustang parents and families!
Want a chance to see your students in action, and help out one of their teachers at the same time? Mrs. Michael in the science lab needs your help! No science experience needed- an ability to pass out supplies, or set up trays for new classes is all that is required! Almost every class has availability- go to http://meadowsschool.org/students/science-lab, find your student's class, and sign up! You can volunteer for one day, once a month, the entire year- up to you! Any questions, feel free to contact Mrs. Michael at jmichael@mbusd.org      Also- to keep up with what is happening in the science lab, follow the Science Lab on twitter @MeadowsScience

Thanks!
YOUNG AT ART FUNDRAISING TABLE ON FRIDAY, 10/2
Friday, October 2, Young at Art representatives will be hosting an after school table where your child can design artwork to be turned into notecards, gift tags, notepads and stickers.  All supplies and order forms will be available.  This is a great way to create stationary (i.e. holiday cards, thank you cards, birthday cards) or holiday gifts.  All proceeds benefit Young at Art at Meadows including six art lessons and materials for our kindergarten through 5th grade students.  Please contact Lisa Becker with any questions.  310.374.0809, 310.435.3341 or lisawbecker@gmail.com.
Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk, October 25th
Come join your friends, neighbors and classmates at the SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk on Sunday, October 25th! Meadows has formed a team and we hope you'll join us to show your support, and have a great time!

Be sure to designate your contribution to MBEF so your registration fee will directly support OUR schools! If you can't participate, consider becoming a "virtual walker". Last year, for every $25 registration or donation, MBEF and our schools received over $150 from the SKECHERS Foundation - totaling $100,000. Let's top that this year!

Along the course you'll encounter celebrities from your kids' favorite television shows, drum lines, a costume contest, cheerleaders, and all sorts of fun! This is a great community event you don't want to miss. We hope to see you there!

DEA - Take Back Your Meds Initiative

It's a great time to clean out your medicine cabinet! Protect our kids, families and environment by properly disposing of your unwanted and expired medicines. Medicines in the home are a leading cause of accidental poisoning and flushed or trashed medicines can end up polluting our waters.

Turn in  your unused or expired medication for safe disposal on Saturday, September 26th from 10am - 2pm at the Manhattan Beach Police Department, South Lobby Entrance.  See the flyer.
