Meadows' 6th Annual Science Night is this Friday (May 1st) from 5:00-8:30 p.m. 

Bring the whole family for a night of experiments, demonstrations and hands-on fun!  Eat a bug! (or just watch the highly entertaining Icky, Yucky, Gross Bug Show), make a bouncy ball to learn about polymers, build an earthquake proof tower out of recycled materials, experience virtual reality with UCode, experiment with candy, shake hand with a starfish, play with dry ice, watch Mad Bob in his new show "Spin, Pop, Boom!" and so much more!  Cub Scouts will be selling pizza and drinks and raffling off SpaceX tours and gear and Jamba Juice will be there with smoothies.  The lower playground will be open for parking but off limits to unsupervised children.

Mom's Night Out - Early Bird Deadline in Two Days!

Meadows Mom's Night Out is on the calendar and it's going to be a BLAST!  But hurry and buy your tickets - prices go up after April 30th!!

Join the fun on Thursday, May 21st from 6:30-9pm at Rock N Brews in El Segungo.
The early bird price is $35! After April 30th it increases to $40. 
Mom's will receive delicious hors d'oeuvres, a drink, a Sephora gift bag and a complimentary raffle ticket for some great prizes, along with quality Meadows Moms bonding time! Grab a friend and come join the fun! 
Congratulations to Joshua Cigoianu!

Congratulations to fifth grader Joshua Cigoianu  for being awarded the Environmental Hero Award!  He was chosen for this honor for his leadership and hard work with his water conservation project. He received this award at the Annual Earth Day Celebration and Concert at Polliwog Park, Saturday, April 25, 2015.  Way to go Joshua!!! 



Grandview Gator Run 5K- May 2nd - Register Now!

Coming up on May 2 is the 20th annual Murad Family Foundation Gator Run 5k. All proceeds from this community wide fun go to MBEF. THE HUNT: The Ultimate Scavenger Hunt and Games take place on Monday, August 24nd!

The Hunt is an opportunity for all incoming MBMS 6th Graders to meet their new classmates before the start of school. Participants will be placed on teams and asked to find/solve a series of clues and win challenges throughout the day. Registration fee covers DJ, bagels and juice, snack, pizza, lunch, T-shirt and goodie prize bag. Space is limited, and we can only take the first 240 students who register. We will have a sign-up table at MBMS 6th grade registration on May 4-5, 3:15-5:30 pm. Online registration will be available for remaining spots after May 6. Please look for us May 4-5 and register as soon as possible to reserve your child's spot!

Meadows will be launching our brand new Earth Club as part of Grades of Green for the 2015/16 school year. If you are passionate about the environment and want to make a difference, then this club is for you! Please submit your name, grade, and a brief statement on why you'd like to a part of Earth Club to the front office. If you have any questions please email reese@runreeserun.org.

There is truly something for everyone. New this summer is our partner Camp Galileo being held at Robinson. Mira Costa Girls Volleyball Camp

Presented by the Mira Costa High School Coaching Staff and National Champion Girls Varsity Volleyball Team - "National Champs" 2006 & 2007

Who: Girls aged 8-12 (Grades 4-7) Welcome!

Support the MIRA COSTA GIRLS SOCCER TEAM SUMMER CAMP

JULY 13-17 FROM 1:30-4:00PM for 6-13 Year-Old Girls at Manhattan Village Field

Soccer, friends and fun all in one! Run by Mira Costa Head Coach Patty Perkinson and her coaching staff with the Mira Costa girls soccer team as counselors, this camp provides a safe and fun environment for your daughter to learn essential playing techniques and improve her soccer skill sets! Campers enjoy a unique low girls-to-counselor ratio. Proceeds benefit the Mira Costa Girls Soccer program.
Come join in the fun and learn from some of the best girls soccer coaches and players in Manhattan & Hermosa Beach. The Camp will be held July 13-17th, 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm at Manhattan Village Turf Soccer Field in Manhattan Beach. After July 10th, the registration fee will increase from $185 to $220.

Dodd Volleyball School

Patty Dodd is a former Olympian and one of the first real stars of beach volleyball.  She has camps throughout the year, and it is an excellent way for kids to learn volleyball the "right" way. She teaches the basics through advanced.  See the attached for information on upcoming volleyball summer camp! 

FUN-Raising - Shopping for Students Receipts Due April 30th!!
SHOPPING 4 STUDENTS
We are in the last month of the Shopping for Students for this school year. Please make sure you place your receipts from any store in the mall dated from May 1, 2014-April 30, 2015 in the box in the office or at the concierge desk located next to Macy's men store. If you received any receipts via email, you could use the following link so that Meadows will receive credit.  http://shopandlog.wufoo.com/forms/z7x3z3/ Receipts must be turned into the office or the concierge BY April 30th. Any receipts turned in after this date will be credited next school year. Thank you, GO MUSTANGS!!!  And don't forget to please check out the website and sign up to receive bonus points for our school.

Box Tops - Box Tops are each worth 10¢ each and Earn Money for Meadows!

So far this school year we've raised $850 for Meadows in the Box Tops for Education™ program. Our goal is $1,000 so please continue to look for the pink Box Tops on select products, clip them, and send them to school.  Box Tops can be turned in by either simply dropping them in the front office collection box or by completing a Box Top submission form (your child will earn a SKORR card for each completed form).  Forms can be returned anytime in a Tuesday envelope or to the front office collection box.  Extra Box Top submission forms are in the front office.  Thank you for helping!
Volunteer Opportunities
Rowell Drop Off Zone Procedures - Click on the link here and find the assigned week for your class, then choose the morning that works best for your schedule. The procedure and rules are listed on the sign up genius site.

Trash Free LunchMore parent volunteers are needed to help: Mon, Wed, Fri @ 11:40 - 1:00.  We need 2 adults per shift each day. Contact Heather Kim at heathergothitched@yahoo.com for more information.
