MBEF - Last week to get your pledge in!   And every dollar counts!

Thank you to the Meadows families that have participated in the MBEF Annual Appeal. It's not too late to make your pledge!  This year's campaign ends on February 13th.  It takes all of us doing what we can to help keep our vital educators and programs that MBEF funds. Parent donations make up a big portion of the MBEF grant money each year.  Please do what you can, every dollar counts and every donor matters!

MBEF will again award classroom participation bonuses for our classroom contest.  Those classes that reach 95% or higher will receive $250.  These funds will be used in the classrooms this year.  Thank you for your support of our schools and your child's education!

If you have not yet donated, please do your part and make your contribution today at www.mbef.org
Have Y'All bought your tickets and raffle tickets for the 2015 Meadows Parent Party?

Yee Ha!!!  The 2015 Meadows Parent Party will be on Saturday, March 7th from 7 pm - 12 am at American Martyrs O'Donnell Hall and it will be a Western Hoe-Down.  We will have a hip DJ spinning cool tunes, dinner, drinks, a live auction and a mechanical bull but most importantly, this event raises money for all our amazing PTA programs.  Tickets are on sale now for $90/ticket and you can buy tickets for the party by going to the following link: http://www.meadowsschool.org/content/2015-parent-party-tickets

In addition, we have an amazing raffle taking place at the Parent Party with prizes like 4 Disneyland Park Hopper Passes, Dancing with the Stars tickets, amazing artwork, 1 week of Skate Dawgs camp and much more.  You will be able to put your raffle ticket in the box for the prize(s) of your choosing and you will be given your raffle tickets when you check in at the Parent Party.  Raffle tickets are sold as a pack of 10 for $20 and you can buy them by going to the following link: http://www.meadowsschool.org/2015-parent-party-raffle-tickets.

MakerSpace is coming to Meadows!!

Ask and you shall receive! Parents and teachers asked for more STEAM and here it is:  MakerSpace is coming to Meadows February 9th  - a week later than first planned.

The results of the MBEF's 2014/2015 Parent and Teacher Survey were recently published. The number 1 funding priority for parents  AND  teachers is  STEM/ STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math- and A for Arts integration).

MakerSpace fulfills many STEAM goals by allowing students hands-on exploration and problem solving as they work toward building a project. At Meadows this will mean that children have the option to spend their lunch time once a week for four weeks progressing through a cycle of projects. Our January pilot group learned about electrical circuits and motors by building bristle bots from batteries and electric toothbrush motors. More info on MakerSpace can be found on the MBUSD MakerSpace website: http://mbusdmakerspace.weebly.com

In an effort to appeal to students that are genuinely interested and that will be giving up their lunch hour once a week for 4 weeks, we ask that students apply on their own. Applications are only available from teachers.

We can't run MakerSpace without volunteers or supplies. Volunteering is the only way to guarantee your student a spot in MakerSpace. Otherwise students are chosen by lottery. We have volunteer spots during school hours and after school hours.
