Book Fair Bistro is Open in the Cafeteria!

Open daily before, during and after school, this is always a great event so plan on getting a jump on your holiday shopping this week while supporting our gem of a library here at Meadows. Thursday we will have evening hours before and after (5:30 to 8PM) the presentation by Ms. Whitt & Meadows' teachers Mrs. Granberg and Mrs. Legaspi on the new Leveled Reading program being implemented across all grades.
Beyond shopping we also need a few good Book Fair Baristas!! Volunteers are needed to help with this fun event. Please join us on Thursday, 11/20 in the Meadows Cafeteria for an evening PTA Meeting featuring the Meadows Book Fair and a reading-focused Parent Education talk from our very own Mrs. Granberg and Mrs. Legaspi with Ms. Whitt! Please note this is an adults only event. Here are the details:

 The next Meals for Meadows event is TODAY - Tuesday, November 18th (moved from the 12th!) at Fresh Brother's Pizza. 20% of your order goes back to Meadows if you dine-in, take-out, or have food delivered to your home. Growing Great

Trader Joe's on Manhattan Beach Blvd. was very generous to donate the food for lesson #1 and Deb Doyle was helpful and generous to donate the food for lesson #2. The first week of December is Conference Week (December 1-5) and are Minimum Days. If you are planning to order lunch for your child to pick up during this week, please turn in your completed form to the school front office no later than Monday, November 17.

| Running Club | |
 Meadows runners, this will be our last week of the Fall season for Meadows Running Club!! Everyone is welcome to come join the fun! We will be on the field, Tuesday - Friday from 7:40 - 8am. There will be surprises and goodies for our tremendous turkey trotters this week. Meadows running club will break after this week until the 3rd week of January. Achievement awards will be handed out after the Thanksgiving holiday. All your Mustang Trot laps will be counted into your running club totals!!
There are opportunities to run over the break. Go checkout the Yuletide Run in December and be sure to register for the Super Bowl 5k/10k in January! You will get credit for community races.

 Hey Mustang dads! Tired of your kids having all the fun on the basketball courts? The annual MBX Basketball Tournament is scheduled for December 7 and we need YOU! This is a super fun fundraiser for the MBX Foundation and a great way to get to know some Meadows parents - and play some hoops! Shopping for Students Update

 Okay Meadows Mustangs, the mall has given our school a challenge!! All schools that log receipts of $20 or more from 50 DIFFERENT stores between November 16 and December 31 will get an extra $100 toward their prize at the end of the program. There are about 80 stores in our mall and it includes Santa and the temporary holiday stores and kiosks too, as well as outside in the parking lot. Please help our school by shopping at our mall this holiday season. Please place your receipts in the box in the front office or visit the concierge at the mall next to Macy's Men's Store.

Mira Costa Boys Volleyball Holiday Camp

This camp is for the eager beginner, intermediate and advanced volleyball player wishing to learn more about the game, skill development and basic rules. The boys will be placed in groups accordingly. They will be working on the basics along with lots of scrimmaging. Participants will get the chance to play with and learn from Mira Costa volleyball players. Low player to counselor ratio!

| Elks Annual HOOP SHOOT Contest | |
The Local Contest will be held at Redondo Union High School (Small Gym) on Saturday, December 20th, 2014. Registration starts promptly at 8:45 A.M. The District Contest will be held at the world-famous STAPLES CENTER on January 10, 2015 (Time TBA).
I would like to extend an invitation to you and any kids you know between the ages of 8 and 13 to attend our Local Contest. It's FREE!
Age determination for all participants is April 1, 2015!
Participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and they must be either 8 or 13 on or before the above date, no exceptions. PROOF of age is required at the time of Registration (Birth Certificate or Passport).
Volunteers are encouraged, especially students seeking Community Service hours. Parents are also invited to join us.
