Meadows Elementary School PTA
Friday E-Mail Reminders
Happy Friday!  Have a wonderful weekend!
Assembly Today = Your PTA Donations at Work

Today our students will see an entertaining, yet thought-provoking, assembly about bullying.  Using mime and humor, The Bully Dudes will show different scenarios that teach our kids the similarities and difference between bullying and playground challenges, and how to be problem solvers. Be sure to ask your children about the show! This assembly could not happen without your support, as it's entirely funded by PTA dollars. Thanks to your generosity, this will be the 1st of 3 assemblies this year!

PLEASE JOIN THE PTA TODAY...TIME IS RUNNING OUT!

Our PTA spends approximately $450 per student each year on everything from curriculum support to computers to classroom supplies--all essential parts of the excellent education our kids deserve. Our PTA Membership Drive is the first critical fundraising step in ensuring that we have the budget to cover these things--so it's critical that you join and donate by our deadline of October 31st! That's 3 weeks away...come on Mustangs, we can do this!

Remember: If your class reaches 100% PTA Membership Participation, your teacher gets $100 to spend in the classroom! Check the charts outside each classroom to see where you stand.  Click here to print a form or join online.
Every donation makes a difference!

Dear Meadows Families,

There has been a confirmed case of Enterovirus D68 in a student attending a nearby school district. This is the virus you may have been hearing about in the news that was originally reported in Colorado and the East Coast. It is similar to the flu with mild to severe respiratory symptoms. Severe
symptoms, if left untreated, can develop with further complications.

You have heard this before, but the best way to protect yourself from any
respiratory illnesses is by following these steps:

* Wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds
* Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
* Avoid sharing cups or eating utensils with people who are sick
* Disinfect frequently touched surfaces, such as toys and doorknobs,
especially if someone is sick

Guidelines for exclusion/return to school:

* Fever: Students with an oral temperature over 100.4 degrees will be
excluded from school until temperature is normal for at least 24 hours.
* Vomiting/diarrhea: Students will be excluded from school until they have
had no vomiting/diarrhea for at least a 24-hour period.
* Absence: Three days or overnight hospitalization requires a doctor's note
upon return to school

Sincerely,
Ms. Whitt
