| Back to School Night and PTA Meeting - Tonight!
Thursday, September 18 (adults only, please)
5-5:45pm -1st-3rd Grades
5:45-6:30pm - 4th - 5th Grades
6:30-7:45pm - PTA General meeting in the Cafeteria
We are happy to be having our first PTA Meeting of the year at 6:30pm. You'll hear Meadows updates from our new principal, Ms. Whitt, as well as district updates from Bill Fournell (MBUSD school board member) and an MBEF representative. PTA leadership will be presenting budget plans for the school year and some of the great events we have planned for this Fall at Meadows. Come get an update and enjoy a light snack if you haven't had time to eat dinner!

MBEF Survey
If you've already taken time to respond to the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation (MBEF) Parent Survey, Thank you!
If you have not, please take ten minutes to help guide MBEF's strategy for the coming year.
MBEF is committed to continuing existing programs which include: Smaller class sizes in K-5 and in 9-12 English and Humanities, Counselors 6-12, Secondary Math Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), Physical Education, Technology TOSAs, Wheel (Film and Drama) Enhancement at MBMS, 40% of Music Instruction, Extra Period Classes, Reading and Writing Specialists.
This survey will help us to determine what's next. Do you want the next grant to support STEM, Character Development, Visual Arts? Please help guide their strategy.

Meadows Tile Wall Update
We are happy to announce that we have a brand-new, brightly colored tile wall installed inside the cafeteria - check out the gorgeous student artwork next time you are on campus! Thank you to Nancy van Doornewaard for leading the charge on the install this summer!
For a little background, Meadows had a tile fundraiser two years ago, and our team installed the tiles on the back of the bench outside the cafeteria. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication with the tile company ... these tiles were never meant to be installed outside, but that wasn't made clear to us until the outdoor tiles began to fade. To make a long story short, the company felt terrible about the miscommunication and provided duplicate tiles at no cost to us. We will remove the faded exterior tiles in the next several months. Meadows PTA plans to create a mural in that area to match the rest of the new murals on campus.
