We are happy to be having our first PTA Meeting of the year at 6:30pm. You'll hear Meadows updates from our new principal, Ms. Whitt, as well as district updates from Bill Fournell (MBUSD school board member) and an MBEF representative. PTA leadership will be presenting budget plans for the school year and some of the great events we have planned for this Fall at Meadows. Come get an update and enjoy a light snack if you haven't had time to eat dinner!

We will have a MEADOWS Mustang Horseshoe game booth! So dust off your cowboy hats, and stretch out your Wrangler jeans to come join the fun by signing up for a shift (or two)!  The shifts are short and are intended to be staffed with parent and child pairs.  There will be two pairs for each hour and a half shift.  Thank you so much for supporting our community and showing your school spirit!!

Follow the link below to join your fellow Meadows Mustang parents and sign up for a shift!!  Don't miss the fun!

Y'All Save the Date for the 2015 Meadows Parent Party!
Yee Ha!!!  The 2015 Meadows Parent Party will be on Saturday, March 7th from 7 pm - 12 am at American Martyrs O'Donnell Hall and it will be a Western Hoe-Down.  We will have a hip DJ spinning cool tunes, dinner, drinks and a live auction so get your sitter lined up early.  More details to follow...
Math Olympiad at Meadows!
Does your 4th or 5th grader really enjoy math? Does he or she want to try out problems that are not usually covered in school? If yes, then he or she should try out for the Math Olympiad.  We will meet for an hour each week (on Mondays from 3 to 4) to practice challenge math starting on September 29.  We will be taking monthly in-class Math Olympiad contests (see  http://www.moems.org/  for more info on contests). Your child does not have to be a math wiz, but it is very important that he or she has a positive attitude - the kids will have to work hard, be patient and be good team players. Supervised and taught by Dina Mayzlin, USC professor and Meadows parent ([email protected]), along with two other parents and Mira Costa mathletes. If your child is interested in joining the team, the try-out will be held this Wednesday, 9/17, during lunch. Please have your child bring their lunch directly to Mrs Jones' class, Room 4, at 12:25.  (Last year we were able to accommodate all the kids who wanted to join the team, and we are hoping to do the same this year).  The registration is through the MBX after-school program -  https://www.mbxfoundation.org/meadows/meadows .  The cost for the first nine weeks is $40.
Family Portrait Fundraiser
Most families talk about getting a family portrait done - kids change so fast.  Now is a great opportunity to have a fabulous family photo taken at the beach or at a local park.  You'll also help raise funds for Meadows PTA.   Book a sitting with JW Photography this fall!  The sitting fee is $45, half of that fee goes back to Meadows and 15% of your total portrait order goes back to Meadows too!  You can call JW Photography directly (310-640-7212) to book your appointment or mail back a request to them w/payment.  Can't find the information on sitting locations/times from the Tuesday envelope?  You can find it on the website or there are also copies in the office.  Appointments under the MB Pier book fast, so don't delay!  (If you have questions, send emails to [email protected].

Don't forget to register your Ralph's Card!

Ralphs logo

The Ralphs Community Contributions program earmarks $625,000 quarterly to qualifying organizations (that's us!) so please register your Ralphs Rewards cards and help Meadows earn a portion of that! The next time you shop at Ralph's, simply take this letter and present it to the cashier. Then, anytime you make a purchase & punch in your rewards card number (your phone number) Meadows will automatically earn a portion of your sale! Thank you!!

IMPORTANT: This program resets annually so all existing participants must re-register or enroll their cards for purchases between 9/1/14 - 8/31/15 to count toward this school year.

Thank you kindly for your support of your child's PTA!

Best,
