Don Knabe/LA County Supervisors Cultural Arts Grant 2013-14

Meadows PTA would like to thank LA County Supervisor Don Knabe and his office for their generous support of our Cultural Arts Program for 2013-2014.

These funds matched PTA dollars and helped to provide 10-week dance and performing arts workshops for every single student at Meadows:

  • Kindergarten: 3 Piggy Opera

  • 1st Grade: Pantomime

  • 2nd Grade: Irish Dance

  • 3rd Grade: Square Dance

  • 4th Grade: Mexican, Spanish and Russian Dance (California History)

  • 5th Grade: Urban Contemporary Dance

All workshops are taught by professional performing artists and are carefully designed to correlate with California State Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Standards. Many also directly tie to Social Studies and Physical Education standards. Plus, they are a fun and kinetic way to learn that our teachers say improves our students' enthusiasm and concentration in class. You can't beat that!

You can find out more about Supervisor Knabe's work in our community at www.knabe.com and read more about his support of the Arts at http://knabe.com/issues/arts-and-education/#.U49oDRZCf8s.
