Greetings!

The Mustang Minute is a weekly newsletter for Meadows parents designed to keep you informed about upcoming school events, fundraisers and programs.  If you have trouble viewing this email, read online at www.meadowsschool.org

Whew, what a whirlwind at Meadows!

The last three Fridays have have been very fun-filled for all Meadows families! All these fun activities would not be possible without the amazing PTA volunteers who make them happen, and they would not be possible without all the families who join PTA and contribute to our fundraising efforts. Thank you so much to every one of you! It is really important to recognize a few key people who took on the responsibility of chairing these programs. We can't thank you enough: Cynthia Millstein and Sam Atallah for chairing the Father/Daughter Dance; Jeanne Mayer and Joanne Michael for chairing the Meadows Science Fair and Science Night; and Jhoanna Torres and Anastasia Egorova for chairing the Mother/Son Game Night. Everything that the PTA does to contribute to the education and experience of our students is done completely by volunteers. Hats off to these amazing volunteers and all those that have helped along the way!

Thank you from the Mother/Son Game Night Team!

A big THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered before the event, at set up, during the night, and who stayed to clean up! Mrs. Michael, Karen Brenneman, Maggie Brenneman (Meadows alum!), Deb Doyle, Curtis Doyle, Allyson Doyle (Meadows alum!), Raj Kamachee, JJ Corr, Jen Cochran, Barney Hedges, Cynthia Hedges. Thank you to all the vendors for their discounts and donated goods, including Ocean Diner (those yummy brownies!!), Becker's Bakery, The Cake Bake Shop, Starbucks El Segundo, Trader Joes MB, Costco, Fresh & Easy, Spectrum Games, LA Gametruck, and LA Photo Booth.  Please support these businesses and thank them for their generosity!!  Last but certainly not least, Thank you to all those who donated raffle prizes, especially the very generous Meadows families!  All of you together made Mother/Son Game Night a night to remember!  Thank You!!!!

MBEF Annual Appeal Update

This is IT mustangs. MAKE YOUR PLEDGE TODAY!!! Friday is the drop dead LAST day to make your MBEF pledge and have it count for classroom participation credit. A HUGE THANK YOU to the 287 families that have already made their pledge. There are 61 families left. We are at 84% participation and need each of those families to do their part so we can reach 100%! Remember, the best valentine's day gift you can give your teacher is $300 to spend in his or her classroom. It takes a village, we all need to come together and do whatever we can to help support our district and keep our schools great.

Lots of ways to do this:

Visit the MBEF website at www.mbef.org/givetoday.

Can't remember your login and don't want to fuss with it? email Johanna Kraus [email protected] or call the MBEF office directly at 310-303-3342.

Give Daffodils, Give Hope - Last Week and LAST YEAR

daffodilMeadows is proud to take part in the final year of The American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days fundraiser. The fundraiser offers students, parents and staff members the opportunity to buy freshly cut daffodils in various sized bouquets. Or a donation to the Gift of Hope allows fresh daffodils to be delivered anonymously to cancer patients at local hospitals and oncology clinics. A donation to the Bear of Hope gives anonymous gifts of Boyds bears to be delivered to pediatric cancer patients at local hospitals and oncology clinics. All orders, accompanied by a check (payable to American Cancer Society), must be turned into the Meadows office by Friday, February 15, 2013. Look for the flyer in today's Tuesday envelope for more details, or click here to print one now. Or you may order online at www.main.acsevents.org/goto/meadowsschool until Wednesday, February 20th. The flowers will be delivered on March 19th.

We will also be creating a Wall of Hope in the cafeteria. When you make a donation, we will display a donation card with your name, your child's name, or In Honor Of whomever you choose. You may come to the cafeteria Friday, February 15th at pick-up if you would like to fill out your donation card in person and/or order your flowers at that time.

Cancer has unfortunately touched the lives of many of us. Hope is contagious, and this event allows all of us to be part of that hope to find a cure for cancer. Please join us in our support of this final year of Daffodil Days. If you have any questions, please contact the Meadows Daffodil Days Coordinator, Cynthia Hedges, at [email protected].
