Thank you Thank you!! | |

Katie and I, Meadows MBEF liaisons would like to offer our personal thanks to every family who has pledged their support to MBEF (62%of you!). Each year, two of us are tasked with the job of spreading the word about the good things MBEF does for us. The bottom line is this- Manhattan Beach schools provide what our kids need because every one of us stands up to support them. It isn't your neighbor, it isn't those "other" families down the street or closer to the beach. It is each and every one of us doing what we can. Please join the 62% of Meadows families who already have and join today. You will be glad you did. Visit the MBEF site at:
www.mbef.org/givetoday
As a token of our thanks, we will be providing a pizza party to Mrs. Yates' class who achieved a whopping 91% participation by the end of pledge week. That is some serious Mustang spirit going on over there!! Thank you thank you for making our job easy!!

Sincerely,
Johanna Kraus and Katie Driscoll

What does the passing of Proposition 30 mean to our schools? | |
The passage of Prop. 30 means MBUSD averted a $448 per pupil mid-year trigger cut. After several years of cuts, this measure certainly brings relief. However, it remains to be seen if our district will receive any additional funding in the future or will funding remain flat. According to the State's Legislative Office, Sacramento owes schools and universities a record $9.5 billion so at least one-third of the initial funds raised by Prop 30 will go to pay back deferrals owed. Remember that Manhattan Beach Education Foundation (MBEF) funds are entirely separate and do not effect our state funding in any way and are much needed to augment inadequate funding. |
