Participating in local Waste Reduction Week events is a great way to discover the many ways you can reduce waste at home, at your workplace and in your community. The choices you make - big or small - really do make a difference! Here are a few ideas to get you started:

In the workplace, consider your purchasing policies, waste minimization activities, energy efficiency actions and water conservation measures.

At home, examine your buying and disposal habits. Do you choose durable goods over disposables? Do you separate materials for reuse, recycle and compost?

In October we had several CoP gatherings.
  • The Waste Education CoP had a half day face to face meeting in Calgary in cooperation with the Recycling Council of Alberta Conference. Read more about the meeting.
  • The Conservation and Outdoor Education CoP had an evening gathering at the Cross Conservation Area. We had a fabulous tour with the passionate education staff followed by a light supper and a presentation about the Outdoor Council of Canada from Albi Sole. Notes and pictures will soon be posted.
