The season change is finally here with lower temperatures, frosty mornings and falling leaves. All of these changes help to remind Directors that it is time to plan for the coming fiscal year.

We have welcomed 24 associations to Budget Workshops to discuss trends in administrative costs, fidelity bond coverage, utility expenses, maintenance planning and reserve needs. These Seminars are a unique way to have our Board Members interact with each other so that they can learn from one another. From this interactive environment has spawned an upcoming seminar hosted actually by a willing Director, see below for details.

From one Board Member to Another

Throughout the recent Budget Seminars, It was gratifying to hear experienced Directors reassuring a first time attendee to "hang in and see that the 2nd year is much easier to understand." Watching new and experienced directors interact is rewarding since we all learn like minded peers.

A few Directors expressed an interest in learning from fellow Director, Mike Lee on how his community established a Reserve Study using the skill set of community members. Mike has graciously agreed to share their process to all interested Directors on Wednesday October 29, 2014, 10:00 AM at our Flint Office. Mike will be providing handouts of his presentation, so for us to plan for the correct amount of attendees, please call our office to reserve a seat. Thanks Mike for Volunteering!

Welcome to the Board

Congratulations! You have volunteered to participate in the management of your Association by becoming a new member of the Board of Directors. You may feel a little nervous about what this may entail. The focus of this seminar is to provide an overview of the duties and responsibilities of each position on the Board.

Topics will range from Board Meetings, Monthly Financial Review, Responsibilities of a Board Member and much more. Come learn this new role along side fellow newly elected Board Members of other communities that we manage.
