Developing Leaders in Learning and Organizational Performance

:

Where will you go in 2015?

During my daughter's high school graduation, one of the students read excerpts from the Dr. Seuss book, "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" It captured the excitement and anticipation those graduates felt as they looked forward to a future of endless possibilities.

Each new year brings all of us the opportunity to embrace new possibilities and plan a road-map for where we'd like to go in our careers. Whether you're a young professional just starting out or a seasoned veteran, if you're planning that journey and looking to expand your professional skill set, you've come to the right place!

ATD RMC is committed to providing new programs and opportunities for its members' professional development, including:

  • Expert speakers and webinars
  • Networking with others in your field
  • Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to delve deeper into topics of particular interest
  • Volunteer opportunities for you to provide your expertise to the chapter
  • Access to networking and business training events through our membership in the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce

As a reminder about the new monthly meeting schedule - the chapter meetings are now held on the second Tuesday of the month from 5-7 PM. Please save the date for February's Structured Networking Event on 2/10. The location will be announced shortly--more info to come!

So if your New Year's resolutions include expanding your professional horizons, we look forward to seeing you at this year's programs!

President's Message   presmessage2

Welcome to 2015! As your Rocky Mountain Chapter Presidents team, we are excited to have you be part of the legacy we are building for learning professionals in Colorado.

Our chapter is strong. 2014 was an award-winning year:

  • 100% CORE compliant
  • Super Star Chapter (over 50% of you are also members of ATD international)
  • Two Share our Success awards (For Drink and Draw and The Past and Future Leaders Quorum)
  • Chapter of the month in September 2014 - a first time for our chapter
  • First chapter to complete our brand/name change to ATD from ASTD

We ended with an increase in all of our key metrics:

  • 216 members
  • Net Revenue of ~$3,000
  • A member retention rate of 56%

Watch for our annual report, which will include more details. We plan to complete this in the next few weeks.

We are financially set to bring you great programs in 2015, and help us start gearing up for the ATD International Conference and Expo (ICE), which is returning to Denver in 2016! We'll share more information about this great opportunity for our learning community as we receive the details. For now, plan on volunteering - the benefit is that for every day you volunteer, you receive a free day of admission.

While 2014 was a successful story, the richness of this story is you; our members who join us. You are at meetings, webinars, and LinkedIn ATD RMC Rocky Mountain Chapter. You create the ATD RMC buzz. You make our community of learners vibrant.

Now - here's what we need from you:

  1. Please join the community. Block out the second Tuesday of every month for great presentations and networking.
  2. Volunteer! You'll get the most out of your ATD RMC membership by engaging directly, plus it can help you build needed skills for learning professional mastery. Email Sue Fody at volunteer@atdrmc.org to learn about our volunteer opportunities.
  3. Talk to us. If you see ways to improve our community - voice it. You can discuss with your ATD RMC officers at our meetings, or email us at president@atdrmc.org .
  4. Thank our sponsors - Regis University and Gene Tognacci, for supporting our chapter. If you would like to be an ATD RMC sponsor, email Tara Powers at sponsorships@atdrmc.org .
  5. Use our ChIP code (Chapter Incentive Program) CH6046 when you purchase books, or attend an ATD conference. We made $1,700 from ChIP in 2014!

Thank you for your on-going support. We look forward to meeting you virtually or at our 2015 meetings!

Your ATD RMC Presidents -

Michele Padilla - 2015 President

Becky Magnotta - Past President

Robin Doss - President Elect

SocialMediaTip
Social Media Tip of the Month

To kick off this new year, let's resolve to get our social media responsibilities under control. I'm going to start using Hootsuite for my professional social media needs (including our chapter's activities) and will report on tips and lessons learned throughout the year.

Hootsuite is a way to manage multiple social media accounts from one dashboard. It promises to be a real time saver. I'm going to use it to manage my Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+ accounts. I encourage you to look into Hootsuite and share your experiences so we can all grow together. If you have suggestions or questions about using social media for your chapter, you can contact me at tedpenberthy@gmail.com
