PDA is Sending a Team to Louisiana
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is sending a team to help flooding victims in Louisiana. There are two ways that you can provide financial support: https://pma.pcusa.org/donate/make-a-gift/gift-info/DR000191/: f ill in the amount, check the box for "This is a gift from a presbytery, congregation or group", and on the dialogue box that opens, put "Gift for PSL." Or you may call Presbytel at 1-800-872-3283.

Synod of the Sun Mission Story: Ministry to Youth in Arkansas Presbytery
Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Services has been committed to healing youth and families in crisis for more than 100 years since the home opened in Monticello, Arkansas, as a day nursery in 1910 and a Presbyterian children's home in 1923. Up to 42 youth at any one time and close to 200 youth annually live at the children's home. A Synod of the Sun grant of $1,500 allowed Vera Lloyd to improve safety on campus through the purchase of a defibrillator for installation in the gym. You may read more here.

Back to School Bash - Aug. 28
Come to a "Back to School Bash" at First PC at 302 South Johnson St, Alvin, TX 77511. Starting at 2 p.m. on Sun., Aug. 28, there will be water slides, popcorn, cotton candy, snow-cones, prizes, food, and more to help you get ready for "Back To School" at this FREE event. Parents can have a Memory Screening or tour the Clothing Outlet or the MEGA Brain Project.

Brain Camp - Sept. 15 to Oct. 20
Brain Camp is scheduled at First Christian Church at 1212 S. Durant, Alvin, TX 77511. It meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Thurs., beginning Sept. 15 through Oct. 20. Workbooks are $25.00 (free if you don't mind using a slightly smoky workbook that survived the fire at Lake Jackson, First Christian Church).

Pearland, First PC is celebrating their 50th anniversary on Sun., Sept. 18 with worship at 9:15 a.m., coffee at 10:45 a.m., and a gathering in the sanctuary for a video and presentations at 11:00 a.m. A catered lunch will follow at 12 p.m. Any former members planning to attend should contact the church office at 281-485-2977 with the number attending. Friends and family of Barbara Montgomery - wife of Ruling Elder (RE) Tom Montgomery of Houston, St. Philip PC - Barbara died on Aug. 10, and the memorial service is Sat., Aug. 20 at 1 p.m. at St. Philip.
Lily James Coles - Daughter of Donald and Kate Coles and grandchild of RE Dave and Cindy Coles of Houston, Pines PC - Lily was born Aug. 11.
Rev. Doug Harper, Honorably Retired - Doug was hospitalized with pneumonia and is expecting a full recovery.
RE Travis Whittaker - Tomball, First PC - Travis has health concerns. South Shore Missional Community - a project of Clear Lake PC - They have been awarded a New Worshiping Community seed grant.
Each week we offer up two congregations and a retired pastor for general prayers. This week please pray for:
- Houston, Hope of the Nations New Worshiping Community
- Galveston, Westminster PC - They have begun construction following arson damage to their sanctuary in December.
