CEDEPCA Pastoral Students Partnership Opportunities
New Covenant Presbytery has had a long-standing formal covenant agreement with CEDEPCA, Centro Evangelico de Estudio Pastorales en Centro America (Protestant Center for Pastoral Studies in Central America). CEDEPCA has a multi-faceted program in Central America including seminary/pastoral studies program, disaster relief, intercultural encounters, and women's program. The seminary/pastoral studies are courses of study for a certified divinity degree or independent studies for enhancing skills of serving pastors (many without formal education). The seminary currently has approx. 30 full-time students, and the pastoral studies aspect works with more than 90 pastors.
In order to more personally connect New Covenant Presbytery with the outstanding work of CEDPCA, it is proposed that opportunities and methods be developed whereby Presbytery of New Covenant churches adopt an individual during their studies for prayer, partial or complete financial support, solidarity, and relationships. CEDEPCA (while maintaining appropriate confidentiality) will provide an update on the individual's progress, share their story as deemed appropriate by the individual, and allow communication with the individual through CEDEPCA. Through this more personal relationship, the question of "Why CEDEPCA?" is more directly answered and stronger, lasting relationships for interaction and mutual support are developed. You can learn more at www.cedepca.org or by contacting RE Robert Beach, CEDEPCA USA Board Member and member of Presbytery's Outreach Committee, at ebeach51@att.net.
