Presbytery of New Covenant and FPCH Settlement Summary
The General Council of the Presbytery of New Covenant, acting as Trustees of the corporation, agreed to a settlement with First Presbyterian Church of Houston (FPCH). The Settlement Agreement will be posted on our web site once all signatures have been secured. The following summarizes the primary points of agreement. 
  • Presbytery will give a quitclaim deed to FPCH for all property.
  • FPCH will pay presbytery $700,000 in four semiannual installments for a period of 18 months.
  • FPCH will pay $300,000 to a PC(USA) mission partner or partners in quarterly installments.
  • During the five-year payout period of the mission payment, the presbytery will not take any disciplinary action against the session, staff, pastors or trustees related to the litigation, discernment or denominational affiliation.
Presbyterian Service Center Needs Help
The Presbyterian Service Center provides low cost housing for elderly persons and people with physical disabilities. It owns and operates a residential facility in southeast Houston. During the storms last week, a tree on the property fell and needs to be removed. Volunteers should contact the onsite property manager, Georga Thomas, at (832) 372-0413 
Navasota, First Celebrates 150th Anniversary
On Sun., May 15, Rev. Barrett Ingram and the congregation at 302 Nolan Street in Navasota celebrated 150 years. Congratulations!

Alzheimer's Care - May 20
Alzheimer's Care Conference and Resource Fair is Fri., May 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Alvin Family Community Center (1031 W. Sealy St., Alvin, TX 77511). Young Adult Volunteer Program - Application Deadline June 1
The Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program offers an opportunity for 19 to 30-year-olds to experience a year of service (Aug. to July) for a lifetime of change. YAVs live in intentional Christian community, deepening and developing their faith while serving alongside partners in sites across the United States and around the world. YAVs are placed in community agencies or local churches with jobs depending on the needs of partners and the skills of the volunteer. Student loan repayment assistance is available during the service year. PW Synod of the Sun Triennial Gathering - July 21-23

The Changing Religious Landscape of America
The Synod of the Sun hosted a Leadership Forum on April 25, 2106 on the Presbyterian Church in a Changing Landscape. Greg Smith of Pew Research Center presented the findings of their 2014 Religious Landscape study. You can watch the presentation on the presbytery's website or YouTube.
In Our Prayers
Rev. Laurey Murphy - Laurey is the longest serving pastor in the history of Houston, Spring Branch and has accepted a new call in Johns Island, South Carolina.

Rev. Johnny Janssen - Johnny has been the youth director at Houston, Community of the Servant Savior and Houston, St. Stephen and has accepted a new call in Cedar Heights, Iowa.
