The Presbytery of New Covenant and MDPC Settlement Summary
The General Council of the Presbytery of New Covenant, acting as Trustees of the corporation, agreed to a settlement with Houston, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church (MDPC). The Settlement Agreement will be posted on our web site once all signatures have been secured. The following summarizes the primary points of agreement.
- Presbytery will give a quitclaim deed to MDPC for all property.
- MDPC will pay presbytery $825,000 in monthly installments for five years in lieu of its normal contributions.
- MDPC will pay $125,000 to a mutually acceptable PC(USA) mission partner or partners in monthly installments.
- If MDPC is dismissed to another Reformed body, current MDPC pastors who wish to remain members of the Presbytery of New Covenant will be allowed to serve MDPC.
- If MDPC is dismissed to another Reformed body, current PC(USA) pastors who choose not to serve MDPC will receive 9 months salary and benefit continuation.
- The presbytery will not take any disciplinary action against the session, staff, pastors or trustees related to the litigation, discernment or denominational affiliation.

Outreach Project Grants Available
The Presbytery's Outreach Committee has jurisdiction to allocate funds for outreach projects. Congregations and mission partner organizations may request a grant by filling out an application found on the presbytery's website (www.pbyofnewcovenant.org) - under Filing Cabinet - Grant Information and Application.

Vintage Car Festival - May 7
The third annual Vintage Car Festival will be held at Tomball, First (30410 Tomball Parkway) on Sat., May 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to the public is free. Enjoy a family-friendly day viewing vintage vehicles of all types, live music, bake sale, petting zoo, shopping, food, and drinks. Holocaust March of Remembrance - May 7
The Baytown March of Remembrance is this Sat., May 7 at Memorial Baptist Church (600 W Sterling St, Baytown, TX 77520). From 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. is special music and registration; 2:00 to 3:15 p.m. is a Remembrance Service with testimonies by Holocaust survivors, WWII vets, German nationals, and their descendants; 3:15 to 4:00 p.m. is a one-mile march; and 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. is a Celebration of Life. Healthy Boundaries - May 10
Those required to have this training once every five years include all ordained clergy-members of this presbytery (wherever serving, whatever status, even if not serving), christian educators, youth workers, commissioned ruling elders, and candidates under care. The next class will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tues., May 10 at Lufkin, First (607 Jane Way, Lufin, TX 75904). Please plan to arrive by 8:45 a.m. for registration and a light breakfast. Class will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. Please RSVP to Patricia Brantley at pbrantley@pbyofnewcovenant.org and include whether you would like lunch provided (bring $10) or will supply your own.

Coffee House Live with David De La Garza - May 11
Houston, St. Andrew's Spring 2016 season of Coffee House Live continues on Wed., May 11 in the Warren Family Center and will feature multiple Grammy winner David De La Garza, playing and singing your favorite classic songs (The Eagles, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Elton John, and more) on piano and keyboard. The doors open at 7 p.m. for this free evening and music will begin at 7:30 p.m. The church is located at 5308 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77005 in West University Place.

Mental Health Symposium Videos
If you missed the presbytery's Apr. 23 Mental Health Symposium: Creating Communities of Grace and Hope, you can now watch videos on our website at www.pbyofnewcovenant.org - under Filing Cabinet - Mental Health (or just click here). At the symposium, experts in the area of mental health presented information on causes, treatment, research, how to reach beyond the stigma, resources, and how to minister to people with mental health issues. The keynote speaker was Elizabeth McIngvale-Cegelski, Ph.D., who is the founder of the Peace of Mind Foundation. Panelists included James Lomax, M.D., Matt Stanford, Ph.D., Sylvia Muzquiz-Drummond, M.D., and Rev. Dr. Peter Holmes.
