Friends and Family of Jacob Wright - Jacob drowned last week while on a family retreat at Mo-Ranch with First Presbyterian, Bryan.
TJ Edwards - Son of Rev. Thomas Edwards, Port of Houston Searfarers' Ministry - TJ had a tumor removed from his chest and is waiting for the oncology report this week.
Dick Wolfe - Husband of former Presbytery Editor, Helen Wolfe - Dick is recovering from having a melanoma removed from his face and is thankful that the margins and lymph nodes were clear.

Welcome to Rev. Jun Ho Kim
Rev. Kim was installed on Sun., Apr. 17 as the pastor at Korean Young Nak, 10005 Neuens Road, Houston TX 77080. Pastor Kim received his MDiv and Master in Theology from Presbyterian College and Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Missiology from Grace Theological Seminary. Welcome!

Youth Summer Interns Wanted
Each year Northwoods Presbyterian, Houston, selects two interns for a paid internship that usually runs from about the beginning of June through mid-August. Interns get a chance to LEAD youth, BUILD relationships, PLAN an event (Mess Fest) and DISCOVER if God is calling them to ministry! Go to www.northwoodsyouth.org/programs to download the application. Earth Day Classes and Concert - Apr. 24
Webster Presbyterian is offering GreenEdu classes in celebration of Earth Day this Sun., Apr. 24 at 2:00 and 2:30 p.m. Topics include Butterfly Gardening 101, Electricity Plan Smarts, and Becoming an EarthCare Congregation, followed by a free concert at 3:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary by the Gulf Coast Concert Band. The band is composed of 40-50 wind, brass, and percussion musicians from around the Houston Metropolitan area. For more information, visit www.websterpresby.org.

Vision Initiative and Social Justice Grants
Applications due Apr. 30.
This year $55,000 is available for Vision Initiative Grants and $10,000 for Social Justice Grants, and applications for both are now being accepted. Vision Initiative Grants are designed to enhance progress to the Vision and sustain the Mission of the Presbytery. Social Justice Grants are, per the fund's donor, to "be used for social justice issues, particularly for issues concerning equality and inclusion of all persons regardless of sexual orientation." Holocaust March of Remembrance - May 1
ChristChurch Presbyterian (5001 Bellaire Blvd. Bellaire, TX 77401) is hosting a March of Remembrance this Sun., May 1 with the opening service from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. This is a multi-denominational Judeo-Christian response to the Holocaust and is intended to honor holocaust survivors and their families, WWII veterans and repentant German nationals. Following the service, participants will march down Bellaire Boulevard to Brith Shalom synagogue at 4610 Bellaire Blvd, Bellaire, TX 77401. From 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. there will be an opportunity to attend a citywide Yom HaShoah Commemoration at Congregation Brith Shalom, presented by Holocaust Museum Houston.

Church Security and Intruder Response Training - May 20-21
Come one or both days of this course, which is intended to provide church leadership with all of the tools needed to start a security ministry from nothing or to formalize and professionalize a security ministry already in place. It will cover the importance of constructing a written plan and give step-by-step instructions how to do so. Some of the other topics include justification of a safety & security ministry, statistics and trends of crimes against churches, active shooter response, overview of threats to ministries, and physical security. All attendees receive a 75+ page workbook, risk assessment worksheet, physical security checklists & template sections for the written plan. Lay Minister Training - May 21
 POP (Prayers of the People) will be offering lay minister training on Sat., May 21 at First Presbyterian (5300 Main St. Houston, TX 77004). Training is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is free and includes lunch, training materials, and the book, Spiritual Disciplines Handbook: Practices that Transform Us by Adele Ahlberg Calhoun.
