Friends and Family of Irene Coulter - Gulf Prairie Presbyterian, Jones Creek - Irene died on Apr. 4 after a courageous battle with cancer.
 
Friends and Family of Emily Harper - Wife of Rev. Doug Harper, Pastor Emeritus of St. Andrew's, Houston - Emily died on Apr. 9. 
 
Rev. Dr. Ben Stewart - Seafarers' Center - Ben will be having prostate surgery on Apr. 14 and will be out of commission for six weeks.

Cybersecurity Lunch and Learn - Apr. 13
What if terrorists invaded your cyberspace? ISIS and other extremist groups are adept at using social media, and they could appear in your inbox, on your child's social media platform, or hack into your website. How often does this happen and what if it happens to you or someone you love? How do you respond and protect yourself from a terrorist in cyberspace? The Anti-Defamation League will have Houston Police Department experts provide answers. Preaching Pastors' Conference - May 2-4
The Presbytery of Sacramento Pastoral Support Committee will host this popular conference in collaboration with Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center on the shores of Lake Tahoe, May 2-4. Rev. Kang Yup Na, an Associate Professor of Religion at Westminster College (New Wilmington, PA), will lead the retreat. One of the important "methods" of preparing ourselves for seeing and hearing God's Word afresh, especially those beloved and familiar parts of the Bible we know all too well, is to indeed follow Yoda's Zen-Exodus lesson, "You must unlearn what you have learned." Healing Conference with Rev. Mike Endicott - May 6-8
Rev. Mike Endicott, an Anglican priest from Cwmbran, Wales and Founder of the Order of Jacob's Well, will lead a Healing Conference at First Presbyterian, 2930 E Broadway, Pearland TX 77588. Fri., May 6 from 7-9 p.m. (dinner at 6 p.m.) and Sat., May 7 from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. There will be a Celtic Healing Service on Sat., May 7 from 7-9 p.m. He will preach on Sun., May 8 at 9:15 a.m. and lecture and respond to questions at 11 a.m. More information can be found at pearlandpres.com. Contextual Bible Study - May 10
Austin Seminary is taking theological education "on the road" in this new series of short seminars taught by their faculty. "Contextual Bible Study: Taking those Seminary Tools Back to the Local Church" is a free public lecture by Dr. Margaret Aymer on Tues., May 10 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at St. Philip Presbyterian, 4807 San Felipe, Houston, TX 77056. Contemporary American life presents problems for which it is hard figure out Christian responses. Contextual Bible Study ties the work of studying the Bible together in community with the work of discipleship, living out the call of God on our lives. This workshop will equip participants to create contextual Bible studies, equipping their communities to live out the discipleship circle of praxis: see, reflect, act. Register here.
