Teaching Elder (TE) Helen Rose Moore - Member at Large - Helen's mother is back in Clear Lake Hospital.

TE Larry Spencer - Honorably Retired, Dallas - Larry is in rehab for his back.

Friends and family of Walter Rhodes - Ruling Elder (RE) at John Knox, Houston - Walter died on Feb. 27.

RE John Jo - Korean Central, Houston and Former Moderator of the Presbytery - John's mother died on Mar. 8.  

Friends and Family of Dr. Richard Hazelip - Organist at St. Thomas, Houston - Richard died on Mar. 12.

Residents of the Orange, Texas area as they face flooding from the river today and tomorrow.

Jan Edmiston at Presbytery - Mar. 18
Teaching Elder (TE) Jan Edmiston is the keynote speaker at this Saturday's Presbytery meeting.  She will be at The Presbytery Center on Fri., Mar. 18 and available during the 2 p.m. COM/CPM meeting to talk with folks about a variety of ways "to do" and "be" the presbytery.  Jan will bring a variety of ideas from her time and leadership at Chicago and National Capital Presbyteries and wealth of content from other presbyteries around the USA. 1110 Lovett Blvd, Houston, TX 77006
Presbytery Meeting - Mar. 19
The next called Presbytery meeting is this Sat., Mar. 19 at 8:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian (2727 N. Loop 336 W., Conroe). Details and the packet for the meeting are available on the presbytery's website. The addendum to the packet will be available online late today. Please send the name(s) of your Ruling Elder Commissioners to Lynn Hargrove ASAP if you haven't already.
Dr. Yung-Chiu Wang Piano Recital - Mar. 20
Internationally renowned pianist Dr. Yung-Chiu Wang will give a free recital at 4 p.m. on Sun., Mar. 20 in the sanctuary at St. John's (5020 W Bellfort, Houston, TX 77035). She will perform the famous "Goldberg Variations" composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. A towering keyboard masterpiece, many scholars suspect that it contains a hidden theme of Christ's resurrection. Dr. Wang, a faculty member of the music department of Houston Baptist University, offers this piece in observation of Holy Week and in honor of J.S. Bach's birthday.

Holy Saturday Musical Meditation - Mar. 26
Music at St. Philip Concert Series presents A Holy Saturday Musical Meditation on Sat., Mar. 26 at 5:00 p.m. (4807 San Felipe, Houston, TX 77056). The program will include German Baroque penitential music by Heinrich Sch�tz, Christoph Bernhard, Dietrich Buxtehude, and others, with Christopher Holman (countertenor), Alan Youssefian (violin), Barrett Sills (viola da gamba), and Matthew Dirst (organ). Admission is free; an offering will be received.
Fresh Elastic for Stretched-Out Educators - Mar. 31
Being Good Neighbors - Building Interfaith Connections: Why, as educators and pastors, should we be concerned with making interfaith connections in our communities? What kind of events could open the door to ongoing relationships? What are stumbling blocks to avoid? Rev. Gregory Han, Director of Interfaith Relations at Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston and his co-presenter, Shariq Abdul Ghani, a Muslim interfaith activist who founded the largest Muslim youth organization in Houston, answer these questions and others that you may bring on Thurs., Mar. 31 at 11 a.m. at The Presbytery Center (1110 Lovett Blvd, Houston, TX 77006). Lunch will be served. Concerts on Carter Creek - Apr. 3
Dr. Marcelo Bussiki will conduct MUSIC OF THE AMERICAS on Sun., Apr. 3 at 5:00 p.m. The concert will feature music from the American continents, including: Four for Tango by Astor Piazzolla for String Quartet, Bachianas Brasileiras No. 6 for Flute and Bassoon by Heitor Villa-Lobos, A Little Night Piece for Flute and String Quartet by Arthur Foote, Selections from Andalucia Suite for Piano Solo by Ernesto Lecuona, and Appalachian Spring - Suite for 13 Instruments by Aaron Copland. A reception will follow this free event and childcare will be provided.
Clergy Retreat - Apr. 5-7
Calling all clergy of Presbytery of New Covenant to a time of rest, renewal and reconnection! The annual clergy retreat is Tues., Apr. 5 through Thurs., Apr. 7 at Camp Allen. Presbyterian Leadership Forum - Apr. 25-26
The Presbyterian Church in a Changing Landscape: The Synod of the Sun will host a Leadership Forum on Apr. 25-26 (12 p.m. to 12 p.m.) at the Presbyterian Mission Center in Irving, TX. Greg Smith, Assoc. Dir. of Religion Research at Pew Research Center, will present their latest survey: Religious Landscape Study. All are invited to participate. The cost is $20 for meals and $45 for accommodations (double occupancy/per night). Following the presentation, we will reflect on the data, discuss its implications, and seek creative ways for congregations and presbyteries to reach all generations with the gospel. Register here.
Dinner at General Assembly - Jun. 21
Anyone from Presbytery of New Covenant attending General Assembly is cordially invited to a dinner on Tues., Jun. 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jake's Grill (611 SW 10th Ave, Portland, OR 97205). The cost is be $30 per person. Please rsvp to Patricia Brantley at [email protected].
Friendship Trip to Peru - Aug. 5-14
Webster Presbyterian is gearing up for their third annual friendship trip to Ayaviri, Peru, Aug. 5-14. They will be supporting Domestic Violence workshops, teaching English and art to children and young adults, doing refresher Bible study teaching, and doing some light construction side-by-side with our Peruvian brothers and sisters. A few spaces are available to join this fun-loving, energetic team. This will be an unforgettable adventure that will bring you closer to Christ and to the people of Peru.
