Midweek Lenten Worship At St. Philip
Throughout Lent, St. Philip Presbyterian (4807 San Felipe, Houston) is offering Wednesday worship services at 12 p.m. Preachers for the series include Laurey Murphy (Feb, 17), Rose Niles (Feb. 24), Cameron Highsmith (Mar. 2), Jonathan Page (Mar. 9), and Katherine Doehring (Mar. 16). Lenten Prayer Services At St. Thomas
Come join St. Thomas Presbyterian (14100 Memorial Dr., Houston) for a spiritual experience each Wednesday during Lent from 6:30-7:00 p.m.  Theses special services feature music, prayers and special prayer candles.  Wednesdays, Feb. 10, 17 & 24 and Mar. 2, 9 & 16
Guatemala Trip - Registration Deadline Feb. 20

Fish Fry - Feb. 26
First Presbyterian (1602 John Knox St., Wharton) invites everyone to join them for a fish fry on Fri., Feb. 26 from 5-7 p.m.  $10 for dine in (all you can eat) or take out.  Tickets are available at the door or from Sandy Wilkins at 979-533-3799.
Hymn Sing - Feb. 28
Four grand pianos with outstanding pianists Marvin Gaspard, Jeff Bennett, Eric Belvin, and Gerald Ray will provide an evening of favorite hymns and Christian music.  Other featured artists are John Bolin, Scott Cameron, Cynthia Clawson, Ragan Courtney, Lisa Pierre and Cindy Robinson.  HYMN SING will take place at 6:30 p.m. at First Methodist Church - Westchase Campus (10570 Westpark Dr. at West Sam Houston Tollway).   
What Will You Sing This Lent?
How about singing lyrics drawn from the lectionary texts set to the music of familiar hymn tunes?  The Presbyterian Outlook commissioned Presbyterian hymn writer Carolyn Winfrey Gillette to compose new Lenten hymns based upon the lectionary text for each Sunday of Lent, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter.  Hymns can be purchased for $10 each or all ten for $100 at:  
Veterans Prison Ministry Needs Equipment 
A veterans group in the maximum security prison at Polunsky Unit in Livingston, Texas is currently borrowing chairs, tables, book cases, and audio/visual equipment for their weekly meetings.  Senior veterans mentor at-risk members of the general population each Tuesday.  If you have surplus or are disposing of good, serviceable equipment they can have, please contact Ron Owen at ronaldscottowen@gmail.com or 713-295-1148 who will arrange for pick up and delivery to the prison. 
Meditation and Community Garden Ministry
Synod of the Sun - Feb. Mission Story
In response to the call to be stewards of the earth, the corner property across from First Central Presbyterian Church in Abilene is being transformed from a vacant lot into a meditation and community garden that will nourish both body and soul. When completed, there will be seven keyhole gardens for growing vegetables that will be shared with residents of the neighborhood with any surplus being given to those who visit the Presbyterian Food Pantry.  To read more, click here.
