Fat Tuesday Celebration - Feb. 9
Jazz in the Parking Lot and Fish Fry
St. Luke's (8915 Timberside Drive, Houston) invites you to celebrate with them on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 9 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. This fun event will be in the south parking lot where there will be a tent in case of inclement weather. The Marvin Gaspard Trio will provide the jazz tunes with Cynthia Clawson singing, and dinner will be prepared by Catfish on Wheels with their yummy catfish, shrimp, hush\puppies and french fries. $8 for adults and $5 for children under 10.

Hand In Hand Presentation - Feb. 10
Kathi Neubert, who served as a volunteer Peace-making Ministry Associate at the Hand in Hand School in Jerusalem on behalf of the Jewish/ Presbyterian Dialogue Group of Houston, will present her observations and reflections on her year of service in Israel. This Lunch-and-Learn is Wed., Feb. 10 at 12 p.m. at The Presbytery Center (1110 Lovett Blvd, Houston). Lunch will be provided; please rsvp to Mike Cole at mcole@pbyofnewcovenant.org.
Kathi is the wife of a Presbyterian pastor in Illinois, who has always had a passion for Israel. She brought all of her passion and experience as a Presbyterian to her work with the Hand in Hand Center for Jewish-Arab Education in Jerusalem. Virtuoso Organist Performance - Feb. 14
On Sun., Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. Memorial Drive Presbyterian (11612 Memorial Dr., Houston) will present critically acclaimed performer, Houston native Daryl Robinson. Described as a performer with "...a driving muscular poetry underpinned by nimble technique and nuanced sense of style..." by London-based Choir and Organ, Daryl was winner of both First Prize and Audience Prize at the 2012 American Guild of Organists National Young Artist Competition. Last fall at the age of 30, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Organ for Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. The concert is free and open to the public. Love in All Languages Concert - Feb. 14
Concerts on Carter Creek at First Presbyterian (Bryan) presents Love in all Languages with Casey and Maureen Papovich on Sun., Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. This free concert for the community will include arias, love songs and duets in languages from Hebrew and Sephardic, French and Italian, Czech to English. Composers include Whitacre, Faure, Mozart to Dvorak. A reception will follow the concert and childcare is provided, free of charge. Make this your Valentine Day date! Bearing Witness: Reframing Christian-Muslim Encounters - Feb. 21-23
The 19th Annual Duerr Lecture Series features Dr. Joshua Ralston, Lecturer in Muslim-Christian Relations at University of Edinburgh School of Divinity. His lectures will explore ways for Christians and Muslims to encounter one another, debate our truth claims, and work for the common good. Dr. Ralston will preach Sun., Feb. 21 at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. and lecture at 7 p.m. on Sun., Mon., and Tues. (Feb. 21-23) at St. Philip Presbyterian (4807 San Felipe, Houston). Sew Much Love - Feb. 27
Help with children's quilts for Bags of Love at First Presbyterian (Conroe) on Sat., Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bags of Love are given to children in Montgomery County who are removed from their homes by Children's Protective Services. Each bag contains a quilt, stuffed animal, age/gender appropriate books, toys, games, and toiletry items. Each year more than 100 bags are distributed. Don't sew?
