Update on Westminster:  After the Arson
Christmas at the Synagogue
An arsonist caused severe damaged to the sanctuary of Westminster Presbyterian, Galveston, on Dec. 2.  In spite of the grief, the congregation has seen God's hand and love at work.  Many individuals have offered help and donations from as far as California.  Firemen replaced all the Christmas toys destined for Galveston Urban Ministries.
One of the very memorable events occurred on Christmas Eve.  The Rabbi Marshal Klaven of the local reformed Jewish Synagogue (Temple B'nai Israel) invited Westminster to have their Christmas Eve service in the synagogue.  The hospitality was wonderful and members of the Jewish community, Galveston Islamic Mosque, and visitors joined in a celebration that exhibited peace and love that can coexist with individuals of various faiths.  During an impromptu nativity play, Rabbi Klaven, Dr. Ahmed Ahmed of the Islamic Mosque, and Officer Simms of the Galveston Police Dept. served as the wise men and presented the church with two candles and a lighter to replace the communion table candles that were destroyed.  As Rev. Melissa Krabbe stated several times, "This is awesome!"  Westminster feels truly held in the hands of God through Christ in which all things are possible.

NEW DAY Hunger Ministry
Synod of the Sun - Jan. Mission Story
NEW DAY began as a ministry of Grace Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Texas.  Now a 501(c)3 with its own board, NEW DAY provides 250 sacks of food each week to children and teens in Arlington schools.  Working with counselors in 18 schools, the buying, packing, and delivering of the sacks to the schools is done by volunteers. Many are from Grace but a growing number are from other churches and parts of the Arlington community.  Money comes from individual donors, community agencies, foundation grants - and a wonderful mission grant from the Synod of the Sun.  To read more, click here.
