Volunteers Needed to Help With Homeless Ministry - 4th Wed. of month
Churches are asked to sign up to provide and serve individually-wrapped packaged snacks on the 4th Wed. of each month (6:00-6:30 p.m.) to the homeless who gather each week for worship, dinner, and fellowship in the parking lot of the Presbytery Center. At least 4 volunteers are needed to serve the snacks at the Montrose Street Reach Ministry. Sign up for one or more months by contacting Patricia Brantley (713-526-2585, ext. 101).  Presbyterian Leadership Enrichment - Feb. 6
New Covenant's annual leadership enrichment event will take place from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Pines Presbyterian, Houston (12751 Kimberley Ln, Houston). It is open to all who serve in any sort of leadership role in the church. Keynote speaker for this event, Rev. Karl Travis, will help us better understand the life of the church through the lens of generational analysis. Collective Soul Symposium - Feb. 12-13

Spirituality and religiosity are recognized as factors that contribute to quality of life and coping strategies in many persons facing life-threatening illnesses. The purpose of this advanced course is to provide a better understanding of the Palliative Care Team's role in enhancing the Human spirit and relieving patient's bio-psychosocial and spiritual suffering. This course is aimed at clergy, social workers and health care professionals delivering spiritual care in the community and healthcare facilities. A Certificate for Attendance will be provided. Peru Mission Trip - Mar. 11-20
Information meetings Jan. 19 & 28
The Presbytery Outreach Committee invites you and your church members to be part of a mission trip to Peru during Spring Break. The focus of the trip will be developing relationships. Principal activities will include worship, participation in local church ministries that serve marginalized groups (e.g., women in prison, at-risk youth), and a few "hands-on" building projects. All participants must register and pay the first $300 of the trip cost ($1,700 total) by Feb. 1. For more information, please click here. There will be two hour-long information meetings where you can learn more about the trip. The first is TODAY (Tues., Jan. 19, from 12-1 p.m.) and the second is Thurs., Jan. 28, from 7-8 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the Presbytery Center (1110 Lovett Blvd, Houston).

Guatemala Trip - June 10-17
Registration deadline Feb. 20
You're invited on an immersion trip to Guatemala, which past travelers have described as "a conversion experience - a renewing of faith." Travel through this enchanting country, whose people know hardship but also hope and inspiring faith. Our group will be hosted by Presbytery of New Covenant partner, CEDEPCA (Centro Evangelico de Estudios Pastorales en America Central; www.cedepca.org).
