RE Suzanne Stiles, Memorial Drive Presbyterian, Houston - Suzanne's father, Charles Gerum, died Dec. 11.
Family and friends of RE Fred Hamilton, St. Thomas Presbyterian, Houston - Fred died Dec. 12. He served as Clerk of Session for many years.
RE Ralph Wheeler, Memorial Drive Presbyterian, Houston - Ralph's father, Ralph Wheeler, Sr., died Dec. 13. Ralph serves in the Equipping Ministries area at MDPC.
RE John Cronk, Vice Chair of PNC Nominating Committee - John is recovering from a broken hip.
Faith in Practice Medical Mission Team from Northwoods Presbyterian, Houston - Eight members are leaving Jan. 9 for Guatemala. Leading the team are David and Bette Chenault with Rev. Dr. Paul Nazarian serving as Clergy.

New Mileage Rates for 2016
The Internal Revenue Service has issued the 2016 optional standard mileage rates used to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business, charitable, medical or moving purposes.
Beginning on Jan. 1, 2016, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (also vans, pickups or panel trucks) will be:
- 54 cents per mile for business miles driven
- 19 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes
- 14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations

Seafarers' Staff Christmas Party
The three Presbyterian chaplains at the Houston International Seafarers' Centers celebrated at the Centers' staff party at the Port Of Houston on Dec. 17. Rev. Tom Edwards (L), Rev. Dr. Ben Stewart (C), and Rev. David Wells (R) work with pastors of numerous denominations to provide support to seafarers visiting the Port of Houston. If you'd like to make a donation to support this ministry, a check can be made to Presbytery of New Covenant with "Seafarers" on the memo line.

Newest PC(USA) congregation!
 There was much joy and celebration as Iglesia Latina Presbyterian, Houston, became the newest organized congregation in PC(USA). This New Church Development (NCD) had its chartering service on Sun., Jan. 3. Please continue to keep TE Isabel Rivera-Velez and the congregation at 1331 Studewood in your prayers.

Social Justice Forum - Texas Gun Sense
The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church Social Justice Forum is happy to welcome one of the founders of Texas Gun Sense, John Woods, Ph.D., who will introduce the work this organization has done so far and discuss their future work. Mon., Jan. 11 from 7:00- 8:30 p.m. in Room 301 of the Hendricks Building (4881 West Panther Creek Drive).
Texas Gun Sense, a non-profit based out of Austin, seeks to raise public awareness about gun violence in the state of Texas and to promote common sense gun policies based on fact. This organization began out of a sense of frustration with escalating gun violence in Texas and the nation. Light refreshments will be available. Everyone is welcome.

Powerful Tools for Pastors
The focus is on you!
This pastors-only class was a big success last year so the six-week program is being offered again on Thursdays, Jan. 21 to Feb. 5, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Interface Samaritan, 4803 San Felipe, Houston (behind St. Philip PC).
Participants will have the opportunity to experience interactive group lessons, discussion, and brainstorming led by trained facilitators. The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
The Houston area will celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in an evening of music, worship, and prayer as ecumenical groups gather to pray for Christian Unity around the world. A Concert of Praise and Prayer will be held Fri., Jan. 22, 7:30 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 1510 Pannell St. A combined choir will gather for rehearsals on Jan. 12 and 19 at 7:00 p.m.
