Family and friends of TE W. Sherman Wilson, HR - Sherman died Oct. 8. A Memorial Service will be held Thurs., Oct. 22, 3:00 p.m., at St. John's Presbyterian, Houston. Sherman was the founder of Sagemont Presbyterian, Houston.

Mark your calendars now!
The Presbytery's annual Christmas Open House will be held Thurs., Dec. 10, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the Presbytery Center, 1110 Lovett Blvd. This year's theme will be "Soulful Christmas - Soul Food and Blues." Folks are already making plans for this special Christmas gathering. Everyone is invited to this wonderful Christmas get-together - great food, fellowship, and entertainment!
Correction!
There is no charge for Weekend in the Word at Clear Lake Presbyterian, Houston,  Fri., Oct. 16, 7:30 p.m., Sat., Oct. 17, 9:00-11:45 a.m., and Sunday morning, Oct. 18. The announcement in last week's Tuesday Connect erred in stating that there was an admission charge. Registration is not required and there is no admission charge.
Celebrating 75 years of ministry!
Former members and friends of First Presbyterian, Pasadena, are invited to take part in the church's celebration of its 75th Anniversary Sat. and Sun., Oct. 17-18. Following a catered lunch at noon on Saturday, the Rev. Ted Foote, the first intern at First Pasadena and current pastor at First Presbyterian in Bryan, will speak. The Rev. David Fletcher, a retired Presbyterian pastor who grew up at First Pasadena, will preach Sun., Oct. 18. at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Special activities for the weekend include a tree planting, choir concert, special exhibits, and a Sunday barbeque luncheon. See the website for details.

On Thurs., Oct. 22, 7:00 p.m. CoffeeHouse Live at St. Andrew's Presbyterian, Houston, will present live music from Miss Rosie Flores and her band. Known across Texas and the world as the "Rockabilly Filly," Miss Rosie sparkles on the electric guitar, mixing musical genres of country, jazz, traditional Tex-Mex, and western swing. Get Ready for the Kirkin' o' the Tartans!

Drag out your kilt, shake off your bagpipes, and join Webster Presbyterian for a Kirkin' o' the Tartans Sun., Oct. 25!  It's Reformation Sunday and what a perfect time to celebrate our Scottish roots and the founding of the Reformed Church! You might want to look online to find your clan's tartan and wear your colors proudly! 
 
Dr. Thomas Currie, retired Dean of Union Presbyterian Seminary in Charlotte, NC, will preach at the 11:15 a.m. service. He will also present 2 workshops at 10:15 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the topic of "Jesus Christ in the 21st Century." There is a $10 per person registration fee for this educational event. The Well - What do we fear?
Women in all life stages are invited to hear a panel of real, honest women talk about the things that they fear and how Christ has brought peace in the midst of dark places. Gather at The Well, Wed., Oct. 28, 6:30-8:00 p.m., in the Chapel at Memorial Drive Presbyterian, Houston. The Well is a gathering place for women of all ages and life stages to commune and connect. Are you intrigued by the many offerings that constitute the APCE annual event for Christian Educators? The 4-day event to bed held in Chicago Jan. 27-30 addresses the theme, "I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?" and will feature glorious worship, top-notch keynoter Lillian Daniels, EDTalks by top practicioners, and helpful workshops. Scholarship assistance is available for a variety of categories including pastors of small churches. Scholarships cover full registration costs for the event; applications must be submitted by Oct. 15.     Details about the event and scholarships
