The congregation and staff of St. Andrew's Presbyterian, Houston - celebrating its 70th Anniversary of ministry on Sun. Oct. 11. The congregation thanks God for the seven decades of ministry and prays that God will continue his good work through the church.
RE Nancy Diaz, San Pablo+Trinity, Houston - recently hospitalized
TE Rachel and Candidate Josh Young, Clear Lake Presbyterian, Houston - son Ezekiel Thomas Young was born Oct. 4.
Family and friends of RE Clete Booher, Webster Presbyterian - Clete died Sept. 25. A memorial service will be held Fri., Oct. 16, 2:00 p.m. at Webster Presbyterian. Clete served on several presbytery committees.

Clerks of Session and 'Financial Types'
Session Records Review - Sat., Oct. 24, 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian, Pearland. RSVP to Lynn Hargrove. A Treasurer's Workshop will also be held that day. There are some changes coming with the Board of Pensions in the next couple of years that treasurers need to know. This event will be helpful for anyone who works with the church finances - bookkeepers, financial secretaries, treasurers. Budget about 3 hrs. to attend. RSVP to Forbes Baker.

Pillowcases needed for presbytery-wide youth mission project 
On Sun., Oct. 18, more than 200 youth will gather for our presbytery's annual Youth Rally at Spring Branch Presbyterian, Houston. The day's mission project will be making pillowcase dresses for young girls in Africa. Donations of standard size pillowcases in a variety of colors and patterns are needed for making the dresses.
Please bring these donations to the presbytery office by Sat., Oct. 10, or have your youth bring them to the Youth Rally. Monetary donations can also be made by making checks payable to: "Little Dresses for Africa." Checks should be sent to the presbytery office or brought to the Youth Rally. Flyer

It's time to make plans for Triennium
Thousands of youth and adult leaders will gather for a week of worship, recreation, music, and Bible study July 19-23, 2016, at Purdue University in Indiana. Our presbytery is beginning the process of forming a delegation of 90 youth and 10 adults to participate in this conference that is held every 3 years. Weekend in the Word
Jan Johnson, noted author and speaker on Christian Spirituality, will lead a weekend at Clear Lake Presbyterian on the topic "Arranging My Life for Transformation by God." She will speak Fri., Oct. 16, 7:30 p.m. and Sat., Oct. 17, 9:00-11:45 a.m. She will also facilitate an Adult Class on Sunday morning, Oct. 18, and preach at all weekend worship services.  Free the Captives concert
Webster Presbyterian invites you to its third annual Free the Captives fundraiser concert Sat., Oct. 10. The concert will have spoken word poetry, a Shel Silverstein reading, story-telling, live painting, and several music acts. You will be able to bid on your favorite painting, buy aromatic candles or jewelry made by rescued victims, eat tasty treats, and learn about trafficking from Julie Waters, Free the Captives founder and director.
