The Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Team concluded their work in our area. They have passed along helpful information to those who have had flood damage in the Houston area. Reminder: call 311 for Houston Help Line and 211 to report damage.

Presbytery Youth Mission Trip to New Orleans
Next week six of our churches will be repairing homes and rebuilding lives in New Orleans through Project Homecoming. Totaling 43 youth and adult participants, these churches teamed up for a week of service, worship, small groups, and fellowship. You can follow their adventures by checking out their blog.

Wanted: disaster point person
General Presbyter Mike Cole, is seeking a church member in the Houston area who feels called to be point person for connecting with other faith groups in responding to the flood disaster. If interested, contact Mike.

Position available: Church Preschool Director
St. Stephen Presbyterian in southeast Houston is searching for a qualified early childhood educator to serve as Director for the church's "Cherished Children" preschool. This position is full-time, with options for benefits including medical insurance and a retirement savings plan. Joining together to help
Churches in the Meyerland/Westbury area have joined together to help families who flooded. Volunteers are needed to walk a little, talk with residents ask about their needs, and carry a bag of simple lunches. This is a way to check on the well-being of folks who flooded, especially older residents. Volunteer assignments have been checked out. Volunteers should go to St. John's Presbyterian, 5020 West Bellfort, 77035, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. today through Fri., June 12. Beginning June 13, volunteers should go to Westbury United Methodist Church, 5020 Willowbend (at West Bellfort). Same hours.
Encourage anyone you know who had any loss due to this flood to report this to the city by calling 311. The amount of federal monies designated for this disaster is based on these reported damages/losses. For one-on-one help with specific needs, some city offices, Red Cross, and other flood relief organizations will be on hand at Westbury UMC through Fri., June 12, 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

It's that time of year again...high school seniors getting ready to enter college! Presbyterian Campus Ministries are ready to welcome students, but they need your help. With the permission of students, send campus ministries the names and contact information of incoming freshmen and current students attending Texas A&M, Blinn College (Bryan), University of Houston, Rice University, University of Texas (Austin) and University of Arkansas.
Follow this link and enter students' names/info into this Google spreadsheet. Don't hesitate to share campus ministries' contact info with students! If you have a student who is not attending one of the listed schools, these directors will do their best to help connect you with another campus ministry. UKirk's website is very helpful! |
2015 Hispanic/Latina Women's Conference
The 2015 Hispanic/Latina Presbyterian Women's Conference will be held the weekend of Sept. 25-27 at Mo-Ranch in Hunt, TX. Registration fee is $150 if registration is made by Aug. 20.

Reminder! Connect with Montreat 
Visit beautiful Montreat Conference Center Oct. 5-8 with other women from New Covenant as they encounter God through relationships, renewal, recreation, and rest. Housing in the newly renovated Assembly Inn. Registration fee ($330 for single occupancy and $210 for double occupancy) includes lodging for 3 nights and 7 meals.In addition to meeting the Montreat staff and touring the conference center and surrounding area, there will be a book discussion of Richard Rohr's, Falling Upward.
