Celebrating the Past, Anticipating the Future
Rev. Cosby

Congratulations to Pinecrest Presbyterian, Houston! The congregation invites all to join them in a celebration of the church's 90th Anniversary and its many years of ministry. On Sun., June 14, the Rev. Dr. Lonnie Oliver, Associate African American Congregational Support, Louisville, will preach during the 11:00 a.m. worship. Later that day at 4:00 p.m., the Rev. Dr. Marcus Cosby, Senior Pastor, Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, Houston, will speak.

In 1922 Pinecrest Presbyterian began as a Presbyterian mission in the black community of the Fifth Ward. In 1925 the mission was organized as a church and moved into a building on Gregg Street, offering many mission programs to the community. The time of celebrating the past and anticipating the future will continue in a special concert on Sun., June 28, at 3:30 p.m., "An Evening of Music with Dr. Jacqueline D. Chambers and Friends." Donation: $10.
Great work. . . absolutely stunning!
Texas Parks and Wildlife - Houston Urban Wildlife has given First Presbyterian, Wharton, special recognition for their awesome wildflower/pollinator habitat. In a recent Facebook post, Houston Urban Wildlife says, "These areas are extremely important to pollinators which have seen declines in their numbers globally over the past decades. It is community members like the First Presbyterian Church of Wharton that make a difference and at the same time...add a bit of beauty to what could just be an empty field."

Also to be recognized is Bill Stransky, who harvested and planted all the seeds for the wildflower project! Some are now referring to it as "God's Little Texas Garden!" Thanks, Wharton!
