First Presbyterian Houston vs the Presbytery of New Covenant On Feb. 27 our General Council approved the pursuit of an appeal of the Summary Judgment decision in the lawsuit with First Presbyterian Church of Houston. Legal expenses for the appeals process and beyond are already covered in the attorney fees we have paid.
The Summary Judgment decision was made Fri., Feb. 17. This was a difficult decision for the council members as they seek to be faithful to Jesus Christ and to do the right thing for the Presbytery of New Covenant. Council members expressed the necessity of our upholding our constitutional responsibility in seeking this appeal. Tax deductible contributions to the presbytery to defray these legal expenses will be gratefully received. A copy of our opposition to the Motion for Summary Judgment and the judge's ruling can be found on the presbytery's website. |

The Board of Pensions has learned that some Highmark Blue Cross member data on Anthem's systems may also be at risk. This is the version that everyone on the Board of Pensions medical plan uses. Anthem will send a letter by U.S. mail to current and former Highmark members whose data may have been compromised. Anthem will not contact members by phone or email and will not request credit card or Social Security numbers.
