Rev. John and Eleanor Alexander - on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary. A celebration weekend was hosted by their son Rev. Paul and his wife Rev. Connie Alexander. More than 100 attended, representing the 10 congregations where John and Eleanor have served.

TE ChunJae Jang and the congregation of Love Presbyterian Church of Jersey Village, as they begin their ministry together. Pastor ChunJae Jang was installed as pastor Sun., Feb. 1.

Pam Engler honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

Retired Director of Christian Education, Pam Engler (First Presbyterian, Bryan) will be honored this Friday with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual gathering of the Association of Presbyterian Christian Educators (APCE) in Baltimore. Read about Pam's service. Pam, thank you for your faithful, creative, and effective service to the church!

Regional conversations begin
The first of regional conversations hosted by the presbytery's Vision Team will be held this coming Sunday, Feb. 8. Team members are gathering information which will be used to guide the future of our presbytery. Adults and youth are welcome. Please send at least 3 representatives from your congregation. Participate! The team wants to hear from everyone.
Calling all Young Adults!
(ages 18 graduated high school to 30)
You are invited to a weekend retreat Fri.-Sun., Mar. 27-29, at beautiful Camp Cho-Yeh, Livingston. Arrive Friday night and enjoy getting to know other young adults from around our presbytery. Saturday the group will work on the grounds of Camp Cho-Yeh to aid in camp improvement and beautification. That evening sit around the campfire and enjoy snacks and fellowship! Depart Sunday morning after worship, conclusion of grounds work, and lunch. ALL meals and lodging are provided free.

A place of rest with God
A Silent Retreat for all who are involved in the educational ministry of the church will be held at Villa de Matel, 6510 Lawndale, Thurs., Feb. 26, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. There is no fee, but a donation is requested. Lunch will be provided. This event is sponsored by the Fresh Elastic Educators Group of presbytery. For more information or to register, contact Connie Nyquist.
Jazz in the Parking Lot and Fish Fry
Mark your calendars now and join St. Luke's Presbyterian, Houston, for its annual Mardi Gras celebration, Jazz in the Parking Lot and Fish Fry, Tues., Feb. 17, 6:00-7:30 p.m. Marvin Gaspard and his trio will provide live New Orleans style jazz; dinner will be provided by Catfish on Wheels. This is a community event that always draws a crowd. You are invited to visit with old friends and meet new ones, as you share a meal and listen to some great tunes!
Come sew much love
The Mission Sewing Group of First Presbyterian, Conroe, will host its 6th annual sew-a-thon, "Sew Much Love," Sat. Feb 21, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Quilt kits with instructions, pre-cut by members of the church's sewing group, will get the volunteer quilters off to a fast start. 

The completed quilts are donated to "It's My Very Own Bag of Love." Each bag includes a handmade quilt, stuffed animal, toys, and personal care items. They are given to children who are removed from their homes by Children's Protective Services.

, begins the period of Lent. Presbyterians Today's 2015 Lenten Devotional, Draw Near, invites you to journey with Jesus to his cross and resurrection with the help of the book of Psalms. Along this journey, you'll sample a variety of spiritual practices and find prayerful ways to draw nearer to God. Each day offers a meditation, prayer, and set of reflection questions.

Each annual conference brings together Christian leaders from across racial, socioeconomic, and denominational lines for a time of fellowship and learning with leading scholars.
