In Our Prayers

 

A group of 15 (10 Presbyterians and 5 Jews) will depart Sat., Nov. 1, on the Presbyterian/ Jewish Dialogue trip to Israel. They will return Nov. 8.

 

Bruce and TE Tracy Williams (Member-at-Large) - Bruce is recovering from hip replacement surgery on Oct. 21. He is now in physical rehab in Webster.

 

RE Kathy Nobles, First Presbyterian, Livingston - Kathy is dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

 

RE Sharon Darden, Pinecrest Presbyterian, Houston, and family - Sharon's niece, Tanya Atkinson, had a heart attack Oct. 23. Sharon is Coordinator for Committee on Ministry and Preparation for Ministry.

 

General Presbyter Mike and Ellie Cole, Clear Lake Presbyterian, Houston - recurrence of Ellie's cancer.

 

TE Ok-Kee, Korean Young Nak Presbyterian, Houston - hospitalized in Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center.

 

TE Eid Abdelmassih, Hope International Fellowship (Arabic), Houston - possibility of receiving a new treatment for Hepatitis C.

Behind the Mask

CONCLAVES 2015!

Conclaves are 2 fun, faith-filled retreat weekends for Presbyterian youth groups, led by our Presbytery's Youth Connection Council (PYCC). Middle and high school youth and adult advisors (21 & older; ratio 1 adult: 5 youth) will gather at Camp Cho-Yeh & Conference Center Feb. 20-22 and Feb. 27-Mar. 1. Make plans now! Cost: $130/person (includes lodging, meals, a Christian concert, and conference t-shirt) Registration deadline is Mon., Jan. 20. Information Packet and Registration will soon be posted on the presbytery website.

Harp of Many Colors

Nationally known harpist, Louise Trotter, presents "Harp of Many Colors" on two harps Tues., Nov. 18, 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Memorial Drive Presbyterian, Houston. Enjoy music from Broadway, pop, jazz, ragtime, plus a "Name That Tune" contest for prizes! Presented by MDPC Prime Timers, a senior adult fellowship group of Memorial Drive Presbyterian, Houston. Looking for a location

Korean Central Presbyterian, Houston, is hosting a group of musicians, Clear Sound Harmonica Ensemble, which will be visiting Houston in January 2015. These harmonica musicians come from a school for handicapped youths in South Korea. Although physically handicapped, all members are enthusiastic musicians who have passion to bring warmth to the world through music. They are looking for a place to perform in Houston. Special opportunity for New Covenant youth
High school youth from our presbytery are being offered the unique opportunity to learn where and how faith and politics intersect, and how to participate as responsible citizens in the legislative process. A trip to Washington, D.C., July 11-17, is open to 20 youth at a cost of $1555/person (all inclusive). Participants will spend 7 days and 6 nights exploring our nation's capital.
