Presbyterian Mission Coworkers Gwen and John Haspels who were injured seriously Oct.1 in an attack by armed bandits on a rural road in Ethiopia. The Haspels have been serving as mission co-workers since 1974, first in Ethiopia, then in Sudan, and now again in Ethiopia. Update

Being saved is trusting in what Christ did for us, but being Christian is dependent on the way we respond to what he did for us.

Celebrate with PCH&S!
It's all finished and looks beautiful! You are invited to attend the Dedication and Open House of the Single Parent Family Campus Wed., Nov. 5, at 10:00 a.m. on the campus of St. John's, 5020 West Bellfort. This project was made possible by Presbyterian Children's Homes & Services (PCH&S) and St. John's Presbyterian. The campus will be home to 7 single mothers, their children, and a live-in case manager. Residents commit to family therapy, faith development, and regular meetings with a case manager.

Revising the Directory for Worship
A free webinar entitled "Bread, Bath, and Beyond" will be offered
Tues., Oct. 28 at 1:00 p.m. CST. This study was prompted the 221st General Assembly on a proposed revision to the denomination's Directory of Worship, the middle section of the Book of Order.
The presenter will be the Rev. David Gambrell, associate for worship in the Presbyterian Mission Agency's office of Theology and Worship. His 30-minute presentation will conclude with a 15-minute Q&A time along with instructions on how participants may provide their feedback in writing to the denomination. Registration

Leading Others and Managing yourself
TEs Dave McKechnie and Dave Peterson are teaching a DMin course Mon.-Wed., Nov. 3-7 at Fuller Texas, 10200 Richmond Ave., Ste. 170, Houston, TX 77042. As the North American church heads into a more missionary encounter with the culture, church leaders need to gain experience in making change. In this course the elements of leadership in a Christian context will be examined from a Biblical, historical, and practical perspective. Particular focus will be upon self-understanding and what parts of leadership will be natural and which ones will need to be acquired.
