Being a "Christian" (a word used only three times in the New Testament) is not Jesus' goal for his people. But the making of a community of revolutionary followers or "disciples" - a word used nearly three hundred times in the New Testament - seems to be exactly the goal. The church must return to these roots. The church must become a way of life, an alternative lifestyle, a counter-community of Christ-followers.

Please complete the survey

Watch for an emailed survey invitation around Oct. 1 from the PC(USA) to congregations on "The Confirmation Project." This is the first step in a Lilly Foundation study that seeks to learn the extent to which confirmation and equivalent practices in 5 Protestant denominations in the U.S. are effective for strengthening discipleship in youth. By filling out the survey, you can help the research team better understand the depth, breadth, and effectiveness of confirmation in the PC(USA).

Coming soon to a theater near you!

Presbyterian World Mission encourages congregations to host an event with discussion about the movie, "The Good Lie." The movie, which opens in theaters Oct. 3, focuses on the Lost Boys who were orphaned by the brutal civil war in Sudan, beginning in 1983. Fifteen years later, a humanitarian effort would bring 3600 lost boys, as well as girls, to America. The movie, which stars Reese Witherspoon alongside Sudanese actors and children of war, provides an opportunity to invite your congregation and your community to see and share a vivid reenactment of life in Sudan. The movie is rated PG-13 because of some scenes of violence.
