 | Discipleship Thoughts |
"(God says) Discipleship is not limited to what you can comprehend - it must transcend all comprehension. Plunge into the deep waters beyond your own comprehension, and I will help you to comprehend even as I do. Bewilderment is the true comprehension. Not to know where you are going is the true knowledge. My comprehension transcends yours."
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship

Churches needed to volunteer for 4th Wednesdays Montrose Street Reach Ministry, which has been serving the homeless from the Presbytery Center's parking lot every Wednesday night for the last 10+ years, has challenged Presbyterian churches to provide and serve individually-packed snacks at 6:00 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month. The presbytery staff will volunteer for months when no church has volunteered. Generally about 150 snacks and 2-4 volunteers are needed each 4th Wednesday from 6:00-6:30 p.m. If your church would like to volunteer to be part of this outreach to the homeless, contact Patricia Brantley (713-526-2585, ext. 101). |

Attention pastors, church leaders, and stewardship committees!
Learn the tools of generational theory and grow your capacity for dealing with money, generosity, and organizational life in a multi-generational community of faith. The Rev. Karl Travis, senior pastor at First Presbyterian, Fort Worth, will lead a workshop at Austin Seminary Tues., Sept. 23, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. The focus on generational theory will help de-mystify people's attitudes and practices in relation to money, generosity, and organizational life - three critical issues for most church leaders. How do you lead when one generation views giving as a public necessity, another believes giving is an option, and still a third sees giving as a personal possibility? Information and Registration
