Discipleship Thoughts
The Christian must treat his enemy as a brother, and requite his hostility with love. His behavior must be determined not by the way others treat him, but by the treatment he himself receives from Jesus; it has only one source, and that is the will of Jesus.
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer

The Art of Transitional Ministry

"Beyond Basic," to be held at Montreat Conference Center Aug. 24-29, is designed for transitional and interim ministers who would like to continue their learning within a specialized topic. This year's topic is: Am I Really Expected to be a Leader? In times of transition, leaders navigate rivers Montreatwith rapids, highways with potholes, and pathways with unexpected twists and turns. Participants will explore and discover together leadership insights that will be helpful in transitional and interim ministries.

Space is still available. Learn more about taking part in Beyond Basic.

Crisis on the border

Recent months have seen a flood of unaccompanied children and mothers with children into the United States. The U.S. government has appointed FEMA to coordinate the various federal agencies that are providing the necessary emergency services, including holding the children and families in detention.

As people of faith, we are called to treat foreigners as God's people who are to be welcomed. Many of our Presbyterian congregations along the border are doing just that by providing shelter, food, and clothing and helping to meet other basic humanitarian needs. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is working to provide financial support to congregations and mid councils along the border. You, too, have an opportunity to respond with compassion, generosity, and the acceptance of God's call. More information
