Conversations about the Proposed Revisions to the GRDP

At the presbytery meeting on July 19, there were many revisions proposed to the Gracious Reconciliation and Dismissal Procedure (GRDP). In order for more people to have input into these revisions, we will offer a series of conversations for you to share your comments with members of the writing team. The first conversation will be held Thurs., July 24, 12:30 p.m. at the Presbytery Center. The current and proposed procedures can be found in The Packet, beginning on page 43. Contact Lynn Hargrove if you would like to attend or ask questions or make comments.

Horizon Bible Study overview

Associate General Presbyter Mary Marcotte is presenting overviews of the 2014-2015 study book for Presbyterian Women, Reconciling Paul: a Contemporary Study of 2 Corinthians by Elizabeth Hinson-Hasty. The next overview will be held Fri., Aug. 1, at Pines Presbyterian, Houston (12751 Kimberley) 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Register with the church (713-467-2234), or with Linda Taylor (281-496-3174).

Free Block Party!

Young Nak Presbyterian (10005 Neuens Rd., Houston) is hosting a free block party at its soccer field Sat., July 26, 1:00-4:00 p.m. With the help of missionary Erik Resendez and his team from El Salvador, many fun activities have been planned (balloon animals, face paint, nail paints, and a pick-up game of soccer!). Also great fellowship and food! There will also be a time to share the gospel with unchurched folks. The congregation invites all their friends and neighbors to come!

If you plan to bring people from your church and know how many will be attending, contact TE Paul Hoang to help with the planning.

More information on unaccompanied minors

Although information on this issue was first published July 7, you will find updated information with a few more specifics toward the bottom of the page on ways congregations can help.

A church connected
Ever since Buzz Aldrin celebrated communion on the surface of the moon as part of the sacramental life of Webster Presbyterian, the church continues to celebrate this special day. Many in the congregation were present then. On July 20, the 45th anniversary of that day, the congregation continued this living tradition with a glorious communion service.

Recently Webster Presbyterian was contacted by the pastor of Saint Giles Presbyterian in Sarnia, Ontario. After sending the requested Lunar Communion Sunday liturgy, RE Helen Rose Moore reports receiving this comment: "Thank you...for sending your liturgy...The people of St. Giles are so excited about Lunar Communion Sunday. I've had people bringing things to me to use during the service - it feels like show and tell!" A connectional church indeed!
