Discipleship Thoughts
Jesus of Nazareth always comes asking disciples to follow him - not merely "accept him," not merely "believe in him," not merely "worship him," but to follow him. One either follows Christ, or one does not. There is no compartmentalization of the faith, no realm, no sphere, no business, no politic in which the lordship of Christ will be excluded. We either make him Lord of all lords, or we deny him as Lord of any.

Mere Discipleship:
Radical Christianity in a Rebellious World

presbytery logo About the July presbytery meeting
Commissioners are asked to register online for the July 19 presbytery meeting at Covenant Presbyterian, College Station. Our General Assembly commissioners will report on their experiences in Detroit and share their impressions of serving on various committees. There will be other business throughout the day, and four candidates will be preaching. Let us come together to celebrate the good and gracious work of the Presbytery of New Covenant.

Keep them in your prayers!

Throughout the summer, members of our presbytery will be traveling to Peru for a variety of mission projects that will make a difference in the lives of others. Let us keep them and our partners in Peru in our prayers.

First trip is back home: Youth from St. Philip, Juan Marcos, Pinecrest, First Bryan, Fuente de Esperanza, Iglesia Latina, and First Sugar Land congregations journeyed to Cusco June 13-21 to construct a kitchen and bathroom for a church.

Members of First Presbyterian, Bryan, and Pathways Church of Houston will work in Quillabamba July 4-12 where they will construct a kitchen, an eating area, and 2 bedrooms for a seminary.

Presbytery Planning Calendars
A limited number of Presbyterian Planning Calendars for 2014-2015 are available for pick-up at the Presbytery Center. Cost: $10. Contact Patricia Brantley (713-526-2585).

Early Learning Center
Preschool Dedication

First Presbyterian, Lufkin, invites everyone to a service of dedication and thanksgiving for its brand new preschool building. The preschool, named the Presbyterian Early Learning Center, will offer education and spiritual formation to children 18 months to 4 years. The dedication will begin with prayers and scripture, followed by tours of the preschool. The school will open for the first day of classes Aug. 18.

Church in El Paso seeks your help

The many immigrants seeking asylum from Central America are being transported into El Paso while they await processing and court dates. In response, churches and non-profit organizations have been teaming up to provide them shelter and care to keep them off of the streets while they pass through El Paso. The needs of the Immigrant Project are sudden and great...and they need help now.

See list for ways you can provide help. This request comes from Rev. Jessica Vaughan Lower, pastor at Grace Presbyterian in El Paso. Contact her if you have questions or want to help.

The Georges News about the Georges

Jacob and Aliamma George have safely returned to South Sudan! They will be dealing with trauma healing in the nation, and when Giffen Bible School restarts, they will resume teaching there. Keep them in your prayers. jgsr7@yahoo.com
