 | Discipleship Thoughts |
Great will be our astonishment in that day, and we shall then realize that it is not our works which remain, but the work which God has wrought through us in his good time without any effort of will and intention on our part. Once again we simply are to look away from ourselves to him who has himself accomplished all things for us and to follow him.

Fresh Elastic for Stretched-Out Educators
The good ol' summertime - it's a perfect time to come together and connect with others involved in education and discipleship. Fresh Elastic for Stretched-Out Educators will meet Thurs., June 12, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Presbytery Center to discuss Worship Education for our congregations.
Why do we want children in worship? What are the challenges? How do we prepare children and their families for the experience? How do we support them as they worship together? Bring a sample of your worship bags and other children's worship materials to share.
If you are a volunteer, paid staff person, teaching elder or just curious, you are invited. We'll serve you lunch, complete with a beverage and dessert! To assist in planning, please RSVP by Monday morning, June 9.
Questions? Contact Jo Ann Currie , Kim Shrull, or Anne Wilson.

Pope visits Hand in Hand School The Hand in Hand School in Jerusalem, a center for Jewish-Arab education in Jerusalem, was chosen to welcome Pope Francis when he recently visited Jerusalem. The school was chosen for the Pope's visit because it is the only school in Jerusalem that includes the diversity of Christian, Muslim, and Jewish students. New Covenant Presbytery supports this school by sponsoring Kathi Neubert at the school for a year as a Peacemaking Ministry Associate. Many will remember when Rebecca Bardach and Siwar Eid visited New Covenant earlier this year. Read more about them and the Hand-in-Hand School. Here's your opportunity! The Jewish/Presbyterian Dialogue Group of Houston is sponsoring a trip to Israel Nov. 1-8, 2014, to visit the Hand in Hand School, dialogue with Israelis and Palestinians, and tour holy sites. For more information, contact Mike Cole.
