Discipleship Thoughts

The earthly form of Christ is the form that died on the cross. The image of God is the image of Christ crucified. It is to this image that the life of the disciples must be conformed; in other words, they must be conformed to his death (Phil 3.10, Rom 6.4). The Christian life is a life of crucifixion (Gal 2.19).

Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Learn about Self-Development of People

Grants are available from The Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People for groups who are oppressed by poverty or social systems; have a project that will address the problems they are facing; and have decided that what they are going to do will bring long-term improvements to their lives and communities.

Come to a community workshop Thurs., Apr. 24, 4:00-5:30 p.m. at the Presbytery Center. This workshop will explain the Self-Development of People program, how it works, what qualifies a group for funding, and the application process. No charge. For more information and to reserve a place, email Mary Lewis or call 800-728-7228 x5791. Flyer

Mozart MDPC Concert Series
MDPC's Sanctuary Choir will present Mozart's Requiem Sun., May 4, 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Memorial Drive Presbyterian, Houston. As dramatically revealed in the movie Amadeus, Mozart attempted to complete his greatest work, Requiem, while on his deathbed in early December 1791. Today, it remains one of the supreme masterworks in the history of music and a lasting testament to the composer's genius! It has been said: "There is no feeling, human or cosmic, no height the human spirit can reach, that is not contained in this music." Presented free of charge. Open seating.
Dust off your cool rides and bring them to the festival!
