TE Bob Ferguson, HR - Bob is recovering from a broken arm as a result of a fall last Saturday. Bob has been a member of the Committee on Ministry - Congregational Life.

 

RE Forbes Baker, Westminster Presbyterian, Houston - Forbes is recovering from rotator cuff surgery last Friday. He will be out of the presbytery office this week.

 

RE Jim Brown, First Presbyterian, Pearland - Jim is battling cancer. He is a former member of the Committee on Ministry.

 

Family and friends of RE Edwin and Janie Battise, Indian Presbyterian, Houston - their son, Brian Eric Battise, died Jan. 17.

Calling all youth workers!

Youth Workers, paid or volunteer, can support and learn from one another as they seek to equip and empower young people in the faith. Be part of the Youth Workers Gathering Sat., Feb. 1, 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Southminster Presbyterian, Missouri City.

 

Bring your own lunch and enjoy getting to know one another, sharing resources, learning about upcoming events and opportunities, and engaging in discussion around key topics and situations. Contact TE Caressa Murray for more information. 

Church garage sale!

Stop by and shop at the garage sale at St. Luke's Presbyterian, HoustonSat., Jan. 25, 8:00 a.m.-1 p.m. Ask a neighbor or friend to join you and enjoy breakfast while you shop! There will be furniture, lamps, tables, chairs, kitchen items, games, books, clothing and so much more. Position opening: Christian Educator

St. Andrews Presbyterian, Beaumont, is searching for a Christian Educator to share his/her gifts with the church family. This is a part-time position (30 hrs. a week). The primary goal for this position is to plan, develop, and lead the educational ministry for the entire church, including coordinating and leading the Youth Ministries. Building effective discipleship systems in the church
How does a church succeed at making disciples across the breadth of a congregation? Fuller Seminary Texas is offering a 3.5 hr. seminar about congregation-wide adult discipleship Thurs., Feb. 13, 8:30 a.m.-Noon, at the campus of Fuller Seminary Texas (10200 Richmond Ave., Houston). You are invited to come and get ideas for your church! Participation is limited to the first 35 to register.

Available: round tables

Ten round folding tables are now available for pick up, at no charge, from St. Philip Presbyterian, Houston. Eight chairs (not included) fit around these tables. There is some damage on the edges, but the tops and legs are fine. With a table cloth on them, no one would notice the edges. If interested, call Walker Fair, 281-244-4134.        

Taiz� gathering in Houston this spring! 
Young adults (ages 18-35) are invited to spend an amazing weekend of worship, prayer, music, and small groups at Taiz� Texas Fri.-Sun., Apr. 25-27. This is an opportunity to connect with other young adults from all over North America. The gathering begins with evening prayer on Friday. Saturday will include prayer times, workshops, meals, and small group sharing. The "Pilgrimage of Trust" ends midday on Sunday with worship in different churches. The weekend will be led by the Brothers from the Taiz� Community in Taiz�, France, and hosted by St. John the Divine Episcopal, Houston.

2014 Collective Soul Symposium
Clergy, chaplains, and healthcare professionals are invited to attend a Collective Soul Symposium Fri., Jan. 31, 7:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Onstead Auditorium in the Mitchell Building. "Healing Through the Collective Soul," sponsored by M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Department of Palliative & Rehabilitation Medicine and the Institute for Spirituality & Health, is designed for those who have a keen interest in learning about the importance of relieving physical, emotional, and spiritual suffering of persons with advanced illness and their caregivers.   Details
