REVIVAL THOUGHTS
During times of revival ... prayer flows more easily. Preaching is more powerful. Guidance is more vivid. In contrast, at other times we learn the tougher lessons of walking by naked faith in the Word. This may partly explain why times of revival alternate with times of spiritual drought. Certainly we learn lessons in drought that could never be learned in a cloudburst. But who would want to settle for permanent drought?

1001 Worshiping Communities1001 New Worshipping Communities

Informational gatherings will be held in June, July, and August to continue helping our presbytery share in the denomination's big vision of planting 1001 New Worshiping Communities in the next ten years. Join us for the first gathering on Wed., June 26, 11:30 a.m. at Pines Presbyterian, Houston. Lunch will be provided. RSVP to Cindy (713-467-2234).

Mandated workshop
The workshop, "Pastoral Ministry & Personal Boundaries," is mandated by the General Assembly for all PC(USA) clergy and is also required by the Committee on Preparation for all Candidates, Inquirers in the process, and those going through the Commissioned Ruling Elders for a Particular Service. This is the first of several times the workshop will be offered in our presbytery. These church leaders have the privilege of holding confidences and confessions, and they have the additional responsibility of holding fast the boundaries between professional and personal intimacies.

The first of these workshops, led by TEs Margaret Desmond and Helen DeLeon, will be held Tues., July 2, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Presbytery Center. The group will adjourn to a local restaurant for discussion and Q&A after the workshop, and dismiss at 1:30 p.m.

RSVP to Sharon Darden (713-526-2585, ext. 204).

"So often we think of the past as though it were something finished and laid away, not realizing that it is all unfinished and incomplete, and depending on those who follow to carry to its fulfillment the work the past began."

- Robert E. Speer (1867-1947), Presbyterian church leader, ecumenist, missionary spokesman, and moderator of the 1927 General Assembly
