 | REVIVAL THOUGHTS | During times of revival ... prayer flows more easily. Preaching is more powerful. Guidance is more vivid. In contrast at other times we learn the tougher lessons of walking by naked faith in the Word. This may partly explain why times of revival alternate with times of spiritual drought. Certainly we learn lessons in drought that could never be learned in a cloudburst. But who would want to settle for permanent drought?

Texas Hunger Initiative
In Texas, 18 percent of the population do not know where their next meal is coming from. The Texas Hunger Initiative is an effort to create new points of contact among churches and other non-profit organizations for those who are hungry. A congregation may register to become a self-service or assistance site for applying for Texas Lone Star benefits. The primary qualification is having access to a computer so that applicants can either apply online themselves or be assisted by a church volunteer (who will be trained) to apply for assistance.
If your congregation is or wants to be involved in hunger ministry, click these links for more information and an application to sign up as a Community Partner for Texas Health and Human Services Commission efforts to ease hunger in Texas.

Alert from PC(USA)
The Office of the General Assembly has seen an increase in the number of calls from congregations and presbyteries concerning printed materials being circulated within PC(USA) congregations which misrepresent the beliefs and practices of the PC(USA). In response to the broader claims being made in these documents, the OGA staff have prepared a Constitutional Musing addressing some of these misrepresentations. |
