 | REVIVAL THOUGHTS |
John Erskine, a Scottish Presbyterian minister, published in 1747 a book with this title: "A Humble Attempt to Promote Explicit Agreement and Visible Union of All God's People in Extraordinary Prayer for the Revival of Religion and the Advancement of Christ's Kingdom on Earth pursuant to Scripture Promises and Prophecies concerning the Last Time." It helped ignite the First Great Awakening.
The theme of our 2013 presbytery meetings is
"Revival." In keeping with that theme,
Tuesday Connect is running "Revival Thoughts"
on a weekly basis. |

Report of Healthcare Committee of Board of Pensions
Report is available on the Board's website.
Salient points are:
- The Committee voted to recommend that the Board retain the current dues model for the Traditional Program in 2014, with a 2% increase in dues, to 23% of Effective Salary.
- The Committee further recommended a change to the medical dues model beginning in 2015, with dues of 24.5% of Effective Salary for "full family coverage" and 23% of Effective Salary in cases where member-only coverage is selected. In this model, employing organizations could share none, some, or all of the 1.5% difference in dues with the employee.
Note that this is a recommendation of the Healthcare Committee upon which the full Board will not take action until its June 24-25 meeting. Once the full Board has acted, the Board will unfold a communication plan that will assist Mid-Council leadership as they work with churches to understand and implement any changes approved. The Board continues to welcome feedback. |
Congratulations, Formosan Presbyterian!

St. Luke's participates in reading program
Volunteers from St. Luke's Presbyterian, Houston, are following their pastor's lead by reading to classes at their nearby elementary school once a month, as part of HISD's Real Men Can Read program. Each child in the class receives a copy of the book read to take home. Rev. Scott Harbison has been reading to a second grade class at Longfellow Elementary School since last November.
