Rev. Cassandra Dahnke and family - Cassandra's father died recently. Cassandra is pastor at Woodforest Presbyterian, Houston.

 

RE Krista Langley & Deacon Troy Langley, Indian Presbyterian, Livingston - Katahnah Kaylynn Langley was born Apr. 22. Her proud Ahpo (Grandmother) is Debra Battise-Kleinman, Commissioned Ruling Elder of Indian Presbyterian, Livingston.

 

RE Jim Newlin, Memorial Drive Presbyterian - recovering from angioplasty/stent. Jim is a member of presbytery's Evangelism and Renewal Committee.

REVIVAL THOUGHTS
The Third Great Awakening of 1857-1859 was noted by the secular newspapers for its quiet orderliness everywhere, while through it more than a million converts were added to the churches.

 The theme of our 2013 presbytery meetings is
"Revival." In keeping with that theme,
 Tuesday Connect is running "Revival Thoughts"
on a weekly basis.
Tax credit for small staff churches
Small staff churches might be eligible for the Small Employer Healthcare Tax Credit. Forms must be filed by Wed., May 15, for the 2012 tax year. Contact Forbes Baker for more information. One local congregation received a check for $5,000 last year!

Synod Youth Workshop

The Synod Youth Workshop, a unique conference sponsored by the Synod of the Sun, will take place July 23-28 at the University of Tulsa. The conference is limited to 375 high school youth (entering 10th grade through graduate) and adults (23 years and older). Time is balanced between small group and large group activities and discussions designed to give space to encounter God and others.

 

Registration by church only with a deadline of Fri., June 14. All registrations received after June 14 are placed on a waiting list.

Financial Workshop - 2013 CFO Conference

Plan now to participate in a one-day workshop for CFOs, controllers, finance/operational officers, and church treasurers Wed., June 19, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian, Houston. The conference, sponsored by Texas Presbyterian Foundation and our presbytery, will address Internal Fraud and Audit Preparation issues as well as the risks and benefits of cloud computing. There will be an open forum round table session.

 

No cost for this workshop. Continental breakfast (begins at 9:00 a.m.) and lunch provided by TPF. Registration deadline - Wed., June 12. Questions? Contact Beth Wilt (1-800-955-3155).

Evangelism and GrowthNational Evangelism & Growth Conference

Online registration is now open for the Sept. 16-19 Evangelism & Church Growth Conference in St. Pete Beach, FL. Take advantage of the rate of $200 per person, available for those with 3 or more participants registering from the same presbytery/congregation.

 

The conference theme, Let's Get It Started, reflects much of what's happening in the church today. From the 1001 Worshiping Communities initiative to programs focusing on church renewal and disciple-making, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is embracing opportunities to define the church in new ways.
