Greetings!
Just in time for our annual Economic Outlook next Thursday, May 18, I'm thrilled to say
the future's so bright here in the Greater San Marcos region!
We were proud to announce last week Urban Mining Company's new headquarters and state-of-the-art manufacturing facility coming to San Marcos. The company will serve as the anchor tenant of what will become a 100-acre industrial park. Another recent relocation, Coast Flight Training, will cut the ribbon on its new facility at the San Marcos Regional Airport later this month.
This week, Kyle celebrated the groundbreaking of Austin Community College's Hays Campus Phase II expansion. This will include a first responder program; further strengthening Kyle's reputation as a healthcare hub. We were also generously welcomed by The Texas Pie Company in Kyle for May's Cruz in for Coffee. I happen to love pie so this was a great treat! (Who says pie isn't a breakfast food?) We support Kyle's efforts to officially become the Pie Capital of Texas!
Also Lockhart just announced a new employer, Benny Boyd Auto, bringing 35 new high-paying jobs to the city. We're also delighted to once again sponsor the Chisholm Trail Roundup in Lockhart in June. If you're in town, I recommend coming out for the some great music and festivities.
International partnerships bring tremendous value to our area's economy and GSMP has recently hosted a number of events and delegations here in the region, including representatives from the European Union, Mexico, Canada, and many more. These partnerships will hopefully open doors for Texas State students to study and work abroad, encourage international companies and investors to bolster the area's economy, and help our local companies grow their business through more exporting to new markets.
Please join us on May 18 th for the Economic Outlook, our annual Signature Event, where we look at the future of our regional economy. This year our focus will be on our region's talent development. We hope to see you there!
Thank you for your continued support of the GSMP team and mission. Please let me or the team know if there's anything we can do for you.
Onward & upward!

San Marcos: Voters Approve Bonds
Voters took to the polls to vote on bonds for the City of San Marcos and San Marcos Consolidate Independent School District on May 6, ultimately approving all of the proposed packages.
These bonds include funding $17.45 million of projects for public safety enhancements and a $14.75 million library expansion for San Marcos, as well as a $107.3 million bond to go towards growing and improving schools within the San Marcos CISD district.
Kyle: Austin Community Breaks Ground on Hays Campus Phase II
ACC Hays Campus in Kyle, which opened in 2014, enrolls nearly 1,700 students in transferable core curriculum courses, college-readiness classes, the Pathway Program (co-enrollment with Texas State University), and offers degrees in criminal justice, computer information technology, and office administration.
Phase II of the campus is a result of the 2014 Bond Program, which funds the construction of a first-responders center that will prepare students for critical jobs in law enforcement and emergency medical services. As the region's primary trainer of first responders, ACC plays an essential role in keeping our communities safe and healthy.
